Well after being out to sea for week, I decided to not come to work early.... bad move. I still had to be at work by 7AM and it was already 6:10 on the clock to consider a 22 mile drive and a 5 minute walk to the ship in a 30-40 degree wind chill. So I hauled a$$ driving my 1/4 tank Teg. Jumped onto the highway and not realizing I was speeding..... I looked at the speedo it was 105MPH. I had to merge into another loop so I dropped my speed. Then I realized that a car is riding pretty close to my a$$. So I hit the gas a little bit more to keep the focker off me. At this time, I was actually driving with the traffic flow. Then suddenly, the light flashes. The state trooper was behind me. I calmly pulled over to the side. I was very calm, thinking to myself, after all the multiple stupid stunts I pulled off the street and highway, the cops finally got me. I was more worried about showing up late for work.
The trooper came up to me as I pull out my DL and registration. He asked me why I was speeding. I asked him what time it was. He said 6:30AM. I said that I have to be at work by 7:00AM. I also added that I was not comfortable with people driving close to my car. He agreed that he did got a little close. He asked me why I didnt wake up early to go to work. I answered by asking him if he ever served in the NAVY. He said no, then I told him that he wouldnt understand....... nicely. He also told me that my exhaust is too loud and that my car is way low. I just said okay......
He took his sweet a$$ time filling up the paperwork. It was already 6:30 and I'm still about 10 miles from work. He got out of his car with the paperwork. He said that he was pacing me at 75/55...... I thought to myself, not bad considering I was going faster than that. He also told me that I would've been cited with "reckless driving" (since over 15MPH here in considered that) but I was polite. He said that he realized that my registration is fairly new meaning that I had just purchased the car. He went ahead told me to get my car raised up to normal and replace the exhaust.
Overall, I got off easy. 75/55 and no modification ticket. He said to call a number to send the fine. No court date. I still made it to work by 6:50 AM...... I guess I need to learn my lesson.

Hmm, do they have laws against having your car too low in VA? It sounds like the cop was trying to harass you about your car.
Anyways, most cops hate hearing about real people like yourself who actually served our country in the armed services. . . . . kinda like how doctors look down on nurses for not getting the PHD (good ol meet the parents!).
Its good that he let you off without much of a hassle though, thats what i wish coulda happened to me 2 years ago.
I was at a friends house and i had my little brother in the car with me - i was obviously not about to try and race around my car with family in it, and there is this dumb cop who comes out of the house across the street in full uniform (GET THIS) with a glass of lemonaid in his hand. He obvioulsy just got done socializing with the neighbors. His car was parked out front.
Then, He starts yelling at me about how my car is "illegal" and proceeds to write me a ticket on the premesis that even if i go to court and get off, then i will learn not to bring my "red honda" into a selective neighborhood like this one . . .

I know. I'm not really familiar with state laws and stuff like that anyway. All I care about is knowing that we dont have smog check.

Most states have laws about the car being too low. In OR, I think you have to have 22" from the ground to your headlights or something strange like that.
Thermal, you got off really easy man

In cali it is also 22" from the center of your headlight to the ground. It cannot be lower then that. As for the ticket, I did the same thing driving through New Orleans, when I was TDY to Mississippi. I was clocked 99 in a 65. Sucks, he said 1mph more and I would have been arrested. Well I told him I was in the Air Force, but he didn't care. I was polite so he dropped Reckless driving to careless driving. But right before I was about to leave, he asked if I had any modifications on my car. (Not that is mattered because I have Nevada plates) I told him no and I was all show. Thank goodness he didn't pop the hood. Long story short I had to mail in $275 dollars for speeding and $205 for careless driving. ;(

I hate not knowing the laws, it seems like they should let their laws be more known. They got me for having a blue light like a year ago and now theres like 10 cars in town with them and noone gives a damn that bugs me.

i hate it when cops pace you and then they pull you over regardless of all the other people next to you going the same speed or faster... yeah... that was ticket #1 out of 3 so far... shame on me. :paranoid: friggin tickets in tex-ass are so much more expensive than california. you'd think i would have learned my lesson by now
has anyone ever gotten off for being in the military? i haven't

I got off for being in the military. I was driving back from Mississippi to California, and outside or El Paso about 10 miles from the N.M. border. I got pulled over. Probably cuz the way my car looked, but who knows. He gave me a warning. I assumed it was because I was in the military. We had a little discussion while his partner was checking my car. He was former Army

He he he...thanks racing rice.
I got pulled over about 5 times when I was stationed in Houston. Being in the military helps sometimes, but not here where I'm at now in Norfolk/Va Beach area. About 90% of the population here is military. I'm not special here
