Ok...so I'm looking to upgrade my RAM (from 512MB to 1G DDR SDRAM) so I need another 512MB stick. I'm also looking for a decent DVD-R drive...it can be internal or external. Usually I'd go external but since I'll have the case open to put the ram in...I figured what the hell. Anyone know where the best place to get this stuff is and what manufacturers to check out?

If you have time to spare, I'd say FatWallet. You can usually find a good memory deal with a rebate or something.
Crucial has good memory, so does Mushkin. It'll probably be easier to find a good Crucial deal, though.
Not sure on DVD-R drives, but again check FW.

For memory you can't go wrong with Crucial.
Techdepot.com has a pretty good selection of things for side by side comparison.

^^ yes pricewatch! got to be one of the best sites on the net. I wouldn't bother too much paying a crapload of money for today's disposable computer components. Buy cheaper, this way you wont be as pissed off when it fails. Kingston is decent enough.
