Hey guys I was wondering, my friend works for a parts place and he told me he can get me a K&N cold air intake for my 99 honda civic ex for $150, I was wondering since Ive found some AEM cold airs for about the same price (I dont know too much about the subject bear in mind), but whats the pro's and con's of each brand, and if you guys were in the same situation which would you go with, Thanks.

its all in the filter like pdig said, since the intake pipe design are all pretty much the same.

let me point out that if you live in a relatively wet area (lots of rain, deep snow, etc) you might want to stay away from cold air intakes and just totally avoid the hydrolock situation
(those bypass valves arent really 100% fool proof and they really take the advantage of cai down several pegs)
SRI such as the J's intake (real and fake) are supposed to be awesome because they keep air in the tube at all times for great throttle response unlike cai

Im on sure about K&Ns set up but I know that AEMs are C.A.R.B. aproved so you don't have to worry about smog where as alot of those cheap ebay ones don't have proof that they are so if you live somewhere where you have strict smog regs (like here in cali) and or cops that are a pain about that kind of stuff look for/ask about that

As far as I know all K&N products are Smog legal. I go K&N but I think that has to with the fact that I am a bit of Redneck (if Kragen carries it it's got to be quality!)
