View Full Version : Modding process... stage 2 underway

Well my amp has finally arrived and is about to go in. After the stereo is all in, stage 2 will begin. I have around 1.5k to spend. There are a few routes I could go, and I'm just curious about everyone's thoughts on where I should take the car.
One option is to get a custom fiberglass enclosure for the sub, amps, and rewire everything cleanly for display instead of the hidden mess it is now (in the glove box). I could then do some other stupid stuff like get smoked front sidemarkers w/ LEDs, smoke rear markers, etc.
The other option is to get a new intake plenum, strut bar, test pipes and a ypipe. I would go w/ an aftermarket exhaust, but I'm supposed to keep the car stock (parents) so these are the performance options I have. Headers are out of the question- too costly and small gains.
So, ideas?
Plenum- 450
Strut Bar- 200
Custom audio work- 1000
Side Markers- 100
Smoke Rear Markers- 100
Test Pipes/Y Pipe- dunno, would be custom job
Thanks.

Hrm, its a tough call. How restrictive is that stock exhaust? An aftermarket one will really open it up, and since you can't do that, I'd hesitate to rework the rest of the piping.
I'd say the strut tower bar would be a good idea no matter what you do with the car. Since you're not allowed to heavily mod the car and its quick how it is, I guess I'd work on the stereo. If you will have the opportunity to mod it heavily in the future, I'd do what I could for speed now.

You know procharger at procharger.com makes a supercharger kit for your car now? About 500rwhp with the kit.. you have a stereo already.. I would go with a bat out of hell car next. jmo

Thanks for the input guys. Just for the record, the procharger by ATI is having serious issues as many people have blown engines (rods) with it. It is priced over 5k + install and puts out abt 360rwhp. It is also loud as hell. I'm waiting on a single turbo kit, which is why I'm not getting headers now.

very wise...I rode in a 350 recently and was very impressed by the ride (power and control) in its stock form
what about some suspension? IE beefier sway bars etc

I didn't know you were waiting to turbo it... what about the no mod rule?
Anyway, go for power adders and suspension all the way then.

No mod rule in effect until after college (4 years)... thats about how long it'll take me to actually save enough money to do everything right with the best parts the first time ie rebuilding engine with forged internals etc. By that time the rest of the project should be done also (rims, suspension, interior leather work, show-quality stereo, maybe an in-Z pc)...
