Crank Pulleys? Do they really add any horses at all or just for show?

Pulleys are part of the accessory drive system on you engine. They provide power to the power steering pump, water pump, air conditioning compressor, and alternator. These are driven via the serpentine belt from the crank pulley.

Underdrive pulleys free up power in two ways:
1) Changing the rate accessories turn
2) Reducing rotating mass

The biggest gain we will see comes from number 2, reducing the rotating mass. There is a finite amount of power that an engine produces. This power has to do a number of things; turn the accessories (above), drive the car, turn itself far enough for the next combustion cycle to take place. By reducing the amount of power that goes into turning the accessories, you make more available to drive the car.

I dont believe they are...but different people will tell you different things. Personally, I think that $200 could be spend much wiser elsewhere

Thanks, Im just trying to do minor bolt ons to increase power befor I add turbo. Head swap, Header, Full Exhaust, CAI, Bilestine Struts and Coil overs to help get teh power down. But other than that Im some what puzzled on what to do. I was thinking about Increasing my throttle body size. BTW what is teh stock throttle body size on a 03 civic?

if youre boosting then you dont need a header

go measure your tb if you want to know the size...but i think it would be the same as all the other d's @ 56mm

Id also recommend koni yellow shocks because of the lifetime warranty over the bilsteins (matched w/ ground control coilovers (if you have to have coiloves...personally I like regular springs...how often are you going to adjust the ride height anyways?)
(talk to hondaman-iac for good prices)

I put in an order for a turbo kit from stafford Fabs but I cancelled it due to financial situation. That and the motor blowing up in my girl friends car. How much do the Koni yellows run. I need coil overs cause I need lots of droppage. 17" Motegie's with 40 series tires leave a 3 inch fender well gap.

you dont need coilovers for max drop...a regular spring can do it -
for example, H&R race is a 2.5" drop, sport is a 1.75" drop, and oe sport is a .75" drop

Im sure the coilover's max drop is around 3" anyways
coilovers cost more because of the adjustability...if youre only gonna sit at one level, save some money and just get springs
