Hey all,

My girlfriend and I are gonna carve a pumpkin this saturday. Got any tips?

I heard you are supposed to carve it from the inside out since the pumpkin is round and you dont want the eyes and such to be small.

Lol, carve from the outside-in. Or post pics when you try to carve an entire pumpkin from the inside :)

If i cut a big enough hole in the top, then i will be able to get my hand w/a knife in there to cut at the thing. Im gonna be carefull with the knife so dont worry :).

Yeah, but if you do a hard pattern, it will never come out looking good. The key is to cut at a slight angle to that the inside of the hole is slightly larger than the outside. That will let more light through :)

dont use a jigsaw...I did that once...fast, but messy. And you really dont have that much control over it unless you have adjustable speed...which i didnt

use the super fine toothed saws/knives
but a carving kit from the store and you'll be fine (if youre sparing no expense i mean)

Did u watch that movie The Texas Chainsaw MAsacre? If u did this dude in his basement had a whole bunch of heads that he had cut off so do something like that. Nah i don't think punks are gonna take it but they might ghetto stump the shit out of it. :)

What you need:

* A pumpkin
* An observer (g/f works fine)
* A 12" rotary saw
* A compressor with some air tools
* And a bottle of tequila

Set the pumpkin on a solid surface, drink the bottle of tequila, and then.....hell I dunno, but I'm sure your g/f will get a kick out of watching you. ;)

Definitely make sure your knife is very sharp!!! That is always helpful.

I think she is gonna wanna carve some of it, or at least help me, so i dont know if this would work since a bottle of tequila would put me down for the count - plus i'd pry cut myself with the saw.

but ya, im gonna need a sharp knife.

We always just drew the picture on the outside of the pumpkin then cut it out. It usually looked pretty good. Just remember to clean the inside of the pumpkin out first.. ;)

Now if only you could carve it to look like a :banana:

Don't forget to make a pumpkin pie when you're done.
