Sup, ok I'm thinking about doing a b16a2 swap for my 95 Civic Ex. I don't know much about the other parts I'm going to need after I get my swap. What all will I need I figured the ECU for the new engine, and shit. Whatelse though. Sorry I'm kinda new at this sorta thing. I'm not planning on turboing it or slappying NoS on it I'm going to do every bolton I can along with a few internals, and thats about it. I'd like to be able to hang with a Mustang GT : D.

Allright, I'm here to learn. I'm new to the honda thing. I just sold my Rx7, and went with the Vtech! I hope it was worth it. I would get a bigger swap I wanted to drop a Type R engine in it, but there so expensive. If I could get a used one with around 30,000 miles on it for around 2500-3000 I may consider it. I can get the b16a2 for 2100 new...

He he he he... it's all good man. You really cant get a "new" B16A2 unless you buy it straight from Honda- the factory. Be prepared to drop some cash regardless. Now that you're in the world of tiny engines with no power, you'll need cash to go fast. More cash than your next door neighbor running a stang 5.0 with a few bolt-ons from Pep boys.

A mustang GT is not that hard to beat to be honest with you. I raped a couple of them on the street with my SOHC VTEC 10psi turbo. I'm sure they would've whooped my ass instantly top end tho. You're on the right track. Get a swap with any DOHC VTEC but you must understand that it may not be enough to hang with a stang GT.

At a minimum, for a B16A2 swap to a 5th gen civic, you'll need these:
-tranny
-axel
-shift linkage
-mounts

I'm sure that I'm missing something else in that equation. The ECU issue just depends on what you want to do. You can get a conversion to an OBD1 or as mentioned, a chipped p28 ECU. www.hmotorsonline.com has some great deals on swap packages, but you'll still need hte mount kit. Review some articles on www.hasport.com to learn more about swaps. It has a detailed list on what you need to any honda engine dropped in your car. Goodluck. Keep us posted

Selling my Rx7 wasn't a mistake trust me. It was a 1990 (2nd Gen) N/a it was slow, and needed a tune/ new engine badly! My civic would run rings around my old Rx7. If the rx7 was running right it would be close! Plus rotarys are expensive to keep up.

Yes the b12a2 swap is fast. No it will not hang with a GT. youll need sexin' boost for that. Also, be prepared to wire your ass off. I did it the cheapo way, and Cashizslick had his professionally done. Its not hard swap to do, but little things like emissions, Bracket for throttle cable, and wires need to be considered. youll be fine as long as youre mechanically sound.

yes it was. for the price of doing a swap in the civic you could probably just have swaped in a rebuilt 13B turbo or spent a little more and swaped in a 20B turbo. Both would be way faster than a civic, plus youd have the nice little benefit of RWD. But whats done is done, so have fun with us in civic land.

and if you dont wanna make another mistake you'll just turbo the engine thats in the car right now, rather than swaping.

Dude, Have you ever owned an rx7? Trust me I knew what I was doing when I sold it. I wanted something more practical. Owning an rx7 is far from practical there gas consuming, and it costs money just to keep them running. Alot more then it would a Civic....

rx-7's are fical money pits... they can be made great but with NO WHERE near the reliability or economy of a civic... and it would cost more...

I agree that you should consider turboing the engine in there over a swap... ESPECIALLY a b16 swap.... that's all but pointless imo... you aren't going to make any real power with a b16 till you turbo and then not much more than you would've made with a d16...

Anyway good luck in making your decision...

I would suggest trying to find a wrecked 94 or so GSR... you should be able to get the whole car for under 4k and then you not only have more parts like seats and rear-disk you can swap in but you also have parts you could sell to others to re-coup some of your invested money...

Ok, IT COSTS MORE DAMN MONEY TO KEEP A ROTARY ON THE ROAD THEN IT WOULD A REGULAR ENGINE. do you understand now? It costs 80 bucks for a damn oil change! Needs rebuilds every 70-80,000 miles, During the summer rotarys run rough considering they run alot hotter then an engine with cyclinders, etc need I say more. A cyclinder engine you just turn the key and boom usually no problems. Oil changes are 12 bucks, and I can run my engine to 300,000 miles, and still have some power. Try that with a rotary. So, yes I knew wtf I was doing. I asked a simple question guys. I don't need to be criticized here. Go buy an Rx7, and get a different view point before you start talking about something you don't know about!
