Just wondering why people call their cars WHIPS and what is the reasoning behind it?

My guess is it comes from "whipping" around in your car...

IE... come for a whip around the block... then it goes from there...

IF you search google for "root of the word" WHIP... or slang whip car ...etc...

you'll find stuff.
