As most of you know I beat up on my 6th Gen Accord pretty good. Anyways, my friend brough up a good point... What happens when (if) the motor goes out? So, if you were me, and the motor one day spontaniously explodes, what would you do? Throw down for an H22? Try to find another F23? Or go something a little more... different?
So, what would you do? I guess I should proably start saving up now...

well for your car the only option is a f23 series or a h22 just to keep it legal. you can't put an older engine on a newer chassis.

Throw in an H22. Like Stefan said, its the only legal option, plus it makes more power than the H23.

h22 is a recommended swap for an accord. I'd say if you have the money, do that. Although If you wanted to do something different, I've never seen a B-series motor put in an Accord (i haven't really looked either...)

It was mentioned putting a turbo d16 in with cash to spare (compared to the H22). Both would make similar HP and torque but the D16 would be lighter. Then again, I am sure no company offers the motormount kit either.
The F23 would be more practical off the bat because I already have most of the mods for the motor (intake, headers, exhaust, etc.)
Either way, the cash I have on hand definately wouldn't be good for a new motor... i need to start saving my lunch money now..

I don't if a d16 would be a good idea in a bigass accord...kind of a heavy load on a motor designed to pull the lighter vehicles. but maybe it'll work. I wouldn't comprimise though, go with what you really want.

go with the h22 because if u blow the f23 r u really going to want the same thing u blew up or something better. i woulnt go with a h23 just for the fact it doesnt have vtec. u dont need to go any smaller than the f23 though just for the fact it wont have the balls and it would be a bi**h

go with the H22 that is what I am planning on getting.... that is why I am not getting any engine modz.... I only got a intake in right now... and that will do o_0
and u can get more power from H22 then from F23 with the similar modz that you curently have.... ;)

I say H22 is the option plus those preludes fly but even though the accord is havier it will be pretty damn fast plus you can always do a CAI a exhaust maybe a turbo or supercharger but it's all up to you.

u could do the same mods to the f23 as u could to the h22 but u would get almost twice the amout of power with the h22

i think you can get more power out of the f23 mods than the h22, simply because the f23 is such a detuned engine. even the cr is low on it.

More power overall, or more power gain? I hadn't heard this before. Wouldn't the SOHC hold it back to a certain extent from a tuning POV?

well yeah the sohc would be a drawback but with the right cam you can accomplish that. look at the j32a1 and j32a2 (both 3.2l TL) one makes 210 hp and the other 260hp i think. both are sohc and the heads are different, plus a bit higher compression on the A2 variant. Plus i see the f series engines as torque horse power, not rev hp. look where they make the maximum power 140 ft/lbs of tq @3500 and 125hp @ 5500 rpms (f22a1). i bet i can get my engine up to 180-190 hp with an increased CR, and somehead work and a few timig changes.

the one good thing about the f23 is that it is already sleeved so if u were to put a turbo on it u can get good boost with safty the thing is if u want to run 10 or more lbs u will need to still do work. but what im getting at is that if u r starting with the opion of having to replace a motor do u want to spend say 4grand for a h22 or what ever the cost of the f23 plus turbo to get the same power as a h22 with no mods.
