Do the offer to do simple installs, Intakes, lights, stuff like that, if they do you could offer to do that. Also being a mechanics helper may not be that bad, you help him, watch him, and ask questions. You got to start out somewhere and gain experience.

Yeah, nothing wrong with at least asking about it. I also never worked anywhere crappy like a gas station, food store or any crap like that. Hold out working until you get a job you want and one that looks a bit more unique on a resume than just grocery bagger.

just go in there tell him u want to be a cashier or do something. can't u do brakes or install a CAI or exhaust? u will definetely get the proper trainng once u start there so don't worry about not knowing what to do.

Nothing wrong working at Publix, lol. I was a bagger there for 2 years, that's how I was able to afford my car. Anyway, just go in there and tell them how passionate you are about cars and that you want to help them around the shop. But since they are a start-up, they probably can't afford payroll and (most likely) won't be able to pay you much at all. But it gets your foot in the door.
But, there's nothing wrong with flipping burgers or pushing carts at your age (I'm assuming you're about 16). Everyone has to start somewhere.

My advice to you would be to just go in and apply for the job. Prolly the worst they would say to you is that they aren't hiring at the moment but they can still give you an application in the case that a job opens up. Should you choose to turn in the app if this happens it would be rare to hear a call from them. I think a good plan B would be to apply for like a porter job at a car dealership. You would get to be around cars a lot and you could possibly get some training to move up to a more desirable and more profitable job. And if all else fails, I would take a job in the food services any day over a retail job. A lot less headache.

Another 2 places you can work around cars, although not doing performance work, is detailing and valet. There's plenty of detailing shops around ATL and even more valet. Seems like you can't even go to Toxic Hell without valet around there anymore. And there's some places you can make mad bank doing valet, but I'm not sure how old you are or if there's any age requirements for valet....but worth a try.

If you do try for valet, dress nicely to make a good 1st impression.

the first job you have should be the hardest...find a dishwashing job at the busiest restaurant in town...and work there....after that...all other jobs are cake...worked for me

your young, a job that dosnt pay great but has lots of kids your age at it WILL be more fun than a place in some office where you might make more money. i wouldnt give up my resturant experience for any other job in the world. i had a blast there, made decent money, made alot of friends, and learned alot about the resturant industry that you cant learn anywhere else
