View Full Version : Weird Engine sounds

Hey, guys.. i have this sound comen from my belt area..i donno if its a pulley, i was told that if the belt is moving from side to side, then it would be a pulley..but its not doing that .. the sound is almost a crunching sound, but its not coming from the "enigine block area" its comen from teh belts, and the higher the RPM the louder it gets, also the only engine mod i have is Full exhuast and intake......THanks J

whens the last time you changed the timing belt?

yeah that might be something else then a belt though. it might be something from your engine.

Yank it out and look at it. While its out, put a new DOHC one in. Problem solved.

uhm, well its an 02 w/ 37K miles on it......had its reg. servicing....according to the ol'e dealer......i was wondering if it could be the tentioner or idler puller?

i forgot to ask, does the K20 have a timing belt or chain?

just take it back to the dealer if it's an 02

i would love to.......but i have 40,000 miles........daily driver+show car......its been everywhere so if its something simple that i can do.......then ill save the hassle and just do it my self....

anysound that goes "crunch" should be taken in...especially if you cant figure out what it is. Its new so its still under waranty correct

about 4K out of warrenty......so if i can aviod them .....me and a buddy are gonna take of the "drive belt" and if i still have the sound then its my timing belt, but if hte sound goes away then its the pulleys, i saw on another board that the K20 seems to have a tentioner and idler pulley problem, but honda hasnt done a recall.....so hopefully its that.....
