a good music editor

anyone know a good music editing program?

What I want is one that I can make instrumentals, and custom remixes from songs ive downloaded or ripped from cd's.

Fruity loops 4 is a realy good one for making instrumentals

Traktor DJ Studio 2 is the best mixer iv used up 2 now

well after playing with fl4 for a bit...i realized that its not what im looking for. I want to take actual songs from artists (ie jay z, dr dre, bands, etc) and silence the vocals...I know its possible because ive done it about 3 yrs ago on someone elses comp (i cant contact em for the program name though..)

I need one to take mp3's and fl4 does not do that

I maqke my own music on FL4 then i mix it with Traktor DJ Studio 2 mostly is Techno and some Hip Pop

I like to make my music on music generator 2 for ps2...simpler that way (i dont have time for detailed stuff), and the beats can be decent.

well the software i mentiond are for profecionals

but i gess if u just want to make some editing go with

cool edit 2000 its got alot of options and its simple to use

but get all the plug ins for it

yeah i kinda noticed the pro look of the programs...and the difficulty of use for the simple editor

just look for midi files man. they come only with the instruments and winamp can play them

Cool Edit Pro and SoundForge are very good ones.

Cool Edit Pro is more for editing an existing song, it's not great for creation/mixing.

SoundForge, on the other hand, is great for mixing tracks and assembling songs.

My guess is you've only downloaded them and listened to them on your SoundBlaster in your computer.

Midi files are incredible. They allow you to take a song and map the vocals and other instruments to any sound you want, you can turn a hip-hop song into a piano and string instrument piece, or turn classical into some funky bass song.....do whatever you want, the possibilities are endless.

They just sound like crap to someone who has no clue what they are......

True.. I can make a midi file sound like its being played by an orchestra.. Depends on the tools you're using.

BTW, for those who write music via their computer, midi is the basis. I'm not talking about trance or hip hop.. I'm talking about something more musical and melodious.
