why do i say it's a harley wannabe?
well because just like all honda cruisers (except the goldwing)
they stole the style from harley..if you dissagree then apparently you havnent seen a 81 883 sporty sittin next to a valkerie or something that looks like a valkerie wich cam out way after the sporster.....then the V rod comes out and honda makes a bike that goes along the same lines......dont argue with me
BlackWolf
09-10-2003, 08:12 AM
Ok, let me play devil's advocate here for a minute, what's the point of arguing about whether or not it looks like a Harley? It's about the beauty of the design and appreciation of what the bike is capable of, not the brand of the bike.

Harley stole from Indian, whats your point. :o
The Rune is an awsome machine, Id like to see harley step up and build half the bike the Rune is. Harley is nothing but an overpriced machine that you buy for "the look."
Give me a metric bike anyday, or better yet with the money I save Ill buy two.

how about the v8 harley? not half the bike as the rune?

Shit...what is it with you people and bikes period...I stopped riding a bike when I was 10. I'm not gonna go out and buy another just because that one has an engine. As far as I'm concerned, if it doesn't have 4 wheels and at least 2 doors...f@ck it. And yes, it's a total Harley rip off, but who cares? Not like Harleys have been cool in the last 50 years anyway.
BlackWolf
09-11-2003, 04:17 PM
I beg to differ, if you don't think that Harley's are cool, then why is the tv show American Chopper so popular? Jesse James on West Coast Choppers? Someone's got to think they are otherwise they wouldn't have filmed and aired these shows. If you don't like to ride then don't. No one is forcing you to.

Same reason NASCAR is poular...there's an overabundance of white trash in this country.

Then I feel bad for you for missing out on some really great friends by automatically stereotyping and classifying everyone that rides as white trash or having a mid life crisis. I know many great and wonderful friends that ride and that if based on appearance, others would cross the street to avoid them than to walk past them. These are the same friends that would treat you as family and would give their life for you if need be. That makes them bad people?? Don't judge others until you get to know them. Sure there are people that are bad that ride because of the generalized reputation that came about, but not EVERYONE is. Assumption is alive and well!!
GT40FIED

Who said I wouldn't be their friend? Who said they were bad people? None of these things came out of my mouth. Now who's stereotyping? And really I was just talking about those shows you mentioned but the bikes themselves to some extent as well. I was never a fan of the biker thing but those shows you mentioned seemed to cheapen it even more.

First, you imply by your statement that all who ride, with the exception of the vintage bike riders, are all white trash with whom you would not care to associate with because of your low opinion of them based on your un-interest in bikes. This would also imply that negative standard to any and all who ride, including what you would call "rice bikes". I know several members on this site who ride and some of them who ride "rice bikes" and they are no where near "white trash or mid life crisis" steretypes. Also, you stated that "if it doesn't have 4 wheels and least 2 doors, then f@ck it." If you don't like bikes, fine, no one here wants to force you to ride or even own one. Your opinon is valued as an your opinon and not everyone elses.

and like what was said earlier..don't stereotype because I know a few bikers, and I can tell you the majority of them are the nicest people you'll ever meet.

Imply imply imply...WTF? If I don't say it outright then don't think for me, please. Do I think less of people who ride bikes? No. Do I stereotype an ENTIRE hobby? No. Would I ever call a sport bike a "rice bike"? No. So don't you dare put f@cking words into my mouth. I DO hold vintage bikes to a higher esteem because they are generally owned and kept up by people with a true passion for history and the hobby rather than people who ride for image reasons or to regain some feeling of youth (which you can't deny many people do). Hell...I cut my mechanical teeth on old Indians and Triumph bikes before I ever touched a car with a wrench, so don't tell me I don't get it either. I get it...I'm just not a fan. If you have a problem with that...suck it. Just don't put your lame ass words in my mouth and don't tell me what I do and don't get.

And? Where in there does it say that I can't stand bikers or hate bikes or whatever crap you were talking about? Just because I never rode them doesn't mean I didn't have fun working on them. Face it...you just f@cked up and made a ton of incorrect assumptions about me and decided to b!tch cuz I don't like bikes made within the last 50 years or so.

Your arguements don't hold water because now you're contradicting yourself.
Take a chill, why are you so angry?? Most of your posts in other threads are angry too.
GT40FIED
09-15-2003, 10:22 AM
*sigh* No, I haven't contradicted myself. As I've made clear, you've just decided to take a lot of the things I've said out of context. So in that light, yes, I suppose in your mind I've contradicted myself. Not sure why someone who's a moderater would've drawn this out for so long...look, so you don't agree with me...who cares? That doesn't mean you've got to speak for me and misunderstand much of what I post.
As for being angry...I've got my reasons. They don't have to do with this board but my reasons are my own. But then again I also believe you've misunderstood much of that. I think maybe you've taken my swearing for true anger. There's real anger and there's what I call "internet anger"...you know...where people talk out of their asses and misconstrue a lot of things but you forget about it when you read the next post. So please, just LET IG F@CKING GO and let everyone post about this bike. I've had my say and you don't agree with it...fine. Just f@cking drop it, k?

I'm not a huge bike fan, except for sport bikes. I love those. But that thing is cool. And how can you be original with a cruiser bike. they all look the same to me. But that's me.
