what does the transportation dept do with all the old road signs? any one ever work for them or something. hoping to see if they would lemme take some of the old ones off their hands.....better then stealing them and risking getting into some major trouble :yes:

they just throw them away in dumpsters...some at the local road commission hq, some in just random dumpsters.

Most of the road signs I see look like they are made from aluminum. If they are they probaly get recycled. Your best bet would be to call DOT, or city maintenance or county road department.

My brother worked at a yard for a while, he might be able to help you at.
We've been known to take my dad's truck and a ratchet set and get a few street signs.

ive seen them for sale at second hand stores. I got a huge speed limit one from my brother and someone else found this 'slow' 'stop' sign in a ditch by the road and gave it to me:cool:

hahahah..god i love that. I love road signs. I want a wicked one like the on from That 70's Show "HIGH ST." ....that's awesome. There is actually one by my old town that says "RIO DE JANERO" o(sp?) ...that wicked place in brazil..i want that

Yep, he's right. I got a speed limit sign from a dumpster. There were a ton of others in there, but I could only carry one. It was 30 MPH. It's 80 now :) :yes:
I have a stop sign too. And a few road signs. Just local roads, nothing to funny. My roommate has a Shady Ln sign, always liked that.

my DOT said they resurface and recycle them :mad: i guess im gonna have to search the junkyards or dumpsters or something.....or else back to stealing them :)

13mm is the nut size on most of the street signs in orlando... not that i know personaly.....;)

yep it is here too it wason the one i took. haha we took the name of my street sign. it was already broke it looked like someone already tired to take it off. all we did was take a socket and armorall (haha yes i knwo that is only used to clean ur dash) but it worked! it made the rust go away and we took it off lol

theres a sign down by the beach that says "route 666" then there is a "route 69" somewhere around here
