i have or had an ex. unfortunately my camgears slipped off timing and ruined my engine. i ran into a d16y5 for a good price. now is it hard to modify this engine? i have a custom tubo kit i had origionally bought for the d16y8 engine, will it still fit? only advantage i see is the longer gears but the down side is it's 10 horses shy of the d16y8 . should i have a problem with getting performance parts for the d15y5?:paranoid:

theres no advantage to longer gears in a low powered honda even with a turbocharger.

the tranny should still be good on your EX. what exactly was damaged? i'm guessing the valves/ pistons. if so just replace those parts.

The turbo will work. The exhaust manifold will definitely fit. I agree with Azcivic, check your tranny. it should still be good. If you are reffering to internal engine components, the availability for both the Y5 and Y8 is really about the same. if I were you, I would go ahead and get a B18B or B20Z. What size turbo do you have EM2....

i say fix or replace the head, put in some aftermarket pistons/rods and boost like 15psi and be happy.

i have a t25. this is what i did, i used the block since it had 60,000 miles vice my 140,000 mile block. my mechanic put the ex head on the block, so i'm str8. i wanted to upgrade my pistons and rods but, i'm only an em2 he he.
