Has anyone seen this already? If you work in an office, you KNOW it's true. I feel you on this one.....
You know, sometimes I hate working in corporate America. Why? Because of the
damn cubes. Cubes have to be the worst thing created in the workplace.
No privacy. People looking over your shoulder. All your phone business
being heard by the world. And what's up with people that walk by as slow as
they possibly damn can, to see what website you are surfing instead of
working? I hate that.
You really want to see me go postal? Hover by my cube too long. You may get
cussed out. Don't just bust up in there unannounced. Knock on the wall;
stick your head around the corner to see if I'm busy. Announce your
presence. Don't just jump in because you don't see a door. Damn, It's my
cube.
Don't walk past and ask me who are all the pretty people in my pictures that
decorate my desk. First of all, I don't have any ugly friends. Second of
all, I don't have an ugly family. Third of all, what the hell are you doing
lolly gagging around my cube long enough to look at all the pictures that I
have anyway?
Don't slow your roll at my cube, speed it up. It's my cube. Don't ask me
where I got my plants from, my mirror from or my motivational prints from.
That means you've been standing there too long, you better keep on walking.
In fact, why don't you walk your ass to the nearest Garden Ridge, IKEA or
Target? You wanna see decorations? Go to the damn store!
If you see me on the phone, don't come in. Don't sit in my vacant chair
until I'm done talking on the phone. What makes you think I want you to know
all my personal business? I haven't summoned you. I haven't invited you to
take a seat. I haven't asked you to laugh along with me at the jokes I tell
my friends on the other line. We don't need to correspond in person. That's
what an inbox was created for. You wanna talk to me? Send me an email. You
got work for me to see? Drop it off in the inbox OUTSIDE of my cube. Damn,
it ain't hanging there for decoration!
Don't listen for noises from my cube that announce whether I'm arriving or
leaving. Damn, I hate that! When I get here in the morning, I get here. I
don't need you to say good morning loud enough so that the whole department
can hear. Why do they need to know that I got here at 8:05, not 8:00? And
when I get ready to leave, I'm gone. If you hear me taking my purse out of
the drawer or zipping up my bag, I don't need you to say goodbye loud enough
so that the whole department can hear you announce my departure at 4:45 and
not 5:00. Damn, I hate that!
Don't think because I have staples, pens and notepads, that means you can
borrow some, sh!t, I said no the first time. If I say I don't have any,
don't walk by to check and see if I'm lying. I am. I just don't want you to
have it. Do like I did. Walk your ass down the hall to the big supply room
and get you some things. What do I look like, Office Max?
It's my cube. Respect my house!

I don't have a cubicle, but I do work at an office and I can somewhat relate to the above statement. All I know is that the ladies I work with are nice, but always up in someone's business and gossip constantly. They also tend to be very territorial when it comes to the refrigerator. And since I'm the youngest, they have a hard time relating to me. If I'm still here in 30 years, someone please shoot me!! :o Although I don't plan on it, my apartment lease is up early next year and then I plan on moving!
When I first read the title of this thread I thought it was about the movie....which I love! Either way, gotta love corporate America!

Better question...Who hasn't seen Office Space.
For an honest look at real life, read Dilbert. Probably one of the best ways to start every morning.

Ok, I guess I'll be the second person to give you a normal response. I do understand where you are coming from and I know that is sucks that people are always up in your business. It would piss me off too if I was trying to leave earlier and people did that kind of shit to me too. But take it this way, I don't think some of those people really want to make it all that bad for you and are doing it on purpose to piss you off, or get you fired. If you just work at work and that's it, after a while I think it'll get very tiresome and gruesome (sp?) to do the work and you'll end up having a hard time getting up to go to work,a nd will say you don't like work. You need to socialize at work, a quick hello, a small chat with someone who works with you. Honestly, you just sound like you're bitching about every single thing. Now I'm not going to judge you by one post and say you're a negative person, because there are also times where all I do is ***** ***** ***** about every little thing, so I just hope this was a bad day for you or something. Anyways, I hope things get better for you.

god i could on for hours about how stupid customers can get. "How much is your dippin dots?" Gee i don't know lady, maybe someone should put up a big damn sign in bold f-ing letters like the one in front of you saying how much dippin dots are. And then they have the stupidity to ask me which flavors when it's listed right next to the price. ANd thats only one of the stands i work at.

well... i guess i'll add to this..
first off.. the movie is great
as far as people go... if they want to be ****ing morons... i'll treat them like one. they can take their time,. i'll talk to them like they are 3 years old and walk them step by step through everything explaned right in front of them(i work at subway and people ask me whats healthy on what sub and all sorts of other shit that i honestly dont care about) but my best laugh is when someone gets a really healthy sub... only to get the meal, subsitue for cookies and get a large soda... way to blow that idea for eating healthy.
the only way i get pissed off at work is when im bored out of my mind or i have waaaaay too much cleaning to do...
...oh that and the customers. jobs would be great if it wernt for the customers

yah I thought you were referring to the movie as well....silly me! Still a great movie...and a great dialouge! It amazes me to this day how damn nosey some people really are that you work with. All up in your sh!t. I'd so much rather be left alone when I'm at work. Yes the customers are down right annoying, obnoxious, and a huge pain in my @ss most of the time....but I'd so much rather deal with those customers, than deal with a lot of the people I work with. There are a very few that I work with anymore that keep me sane...and there are like 137 people working in my store. I really dislike most of my coworkers anymore...

Oops, I guess I should clarify myself. A nice co-worker sent me this email that was going around a while ago and I thought it really fit my "office space". Athough I would love to claim I wrote this, I didn't. I really have no idea who the author is. I did just buy the dvd of the movie! Guess that's what reminded me of this email. The one thing that really gets me  is when people just stare in my cube, at me, at what I'm working on, etc, but some people just stand there and stare, you JUST saw me yesterday and the day before and the day before.....

it still amazes me that some people are so bored with their lives and what they do, that they'll completely space out and stare at what someone else is doing. It's like "OMG that person is tying their shoe....go get the video camera" There are some people that treat the world and what goes on around them like their own personal zoo or living museum maybe. Should we all have metal bars around us too to make it feel more like one???
