I've ordered a body kit : "veilside front and sides, buddy club rear, and z3 fenders" I'm getting the hood repainted because of scratches, front bumper, fenders, sides, and rear. They are going to have to do some sort of fade the the bottom half of the doors just to get the paint to look right, plus the paint is 11 years old. I have a friend that works at the body shop where I'm getting my car done. He says that I should just repaint the whole car, I'm really close to doing that already. He said he could give me a fair price that wouldn't be a lot more. So, I'm going to get it repainted and I can't decided what color I want it. It's white now, of course, but if I'm going to get it repainted I want somethign other than white. My idea is a dark blue, maybe midnight blue, with some flakes and either a red or green pearl. Let me know what you guys/gals think.

bro i had my teg painted from white to that Electron Blue Pearl (Civic SI) and i think it atracted a lot of attention which is good but also bad( thiefs ) but i think that would look slick painted the same color especially with a body kit and those silver rims of yours just keep it in mind.

So you're thinking I should get my car painted electron blue? Man That's a sweet color. As far as theifs I'm really not worried about it, you won't believe how many people have asked my what kicker means ... come on .. I guess that's what you get for living in Alabama.

unless your buddy is including doing all the jams and engine bay it's gunna look funny if you change the color...
I think if you're going to do a color change it should be done all at once correctly... otherwise it looks silly and doesn't come out as good later... (paint won't be the same color).

Agreed if you want it done, get it done right.
I personally love black cars, I think if you kept those rims and got a black paintjob with like a silver metal flake. That would be crazy.

Yeah man, no doubt. They're stripping my car down and starting on it. I would be pissed if I opened my blue doors and found the inside jams white, or poped my hood and it was white underneath it.
What do y'all think about the electron blue with some color pearl? maybe a green, not dark or lime kinda in between? I'm not sure I have so many ideas and no idea what to go on. But electron blue is what I want for the .. base color, I guess you would say ...

since someone else chimed in with their opinion...
I agree... you should REALLY think seriously as to wether or not you want z3 fenders and all that other jazz....
It's all up to personal tast but imo body kits ALL look cheap and make the car look lamer instead of better...
I also think adding things to paint is a BIG mistake... metal flake is one thing (as long as it's pretty fine)... but other color pearls and flex and all that other B.S. just detracts from the car... it makes the paint the focus not the car... and generally it just looks cartoonie... as do body kits...
they cheapen an otherwise nice looking car...
again this is all my opinion... so do what you like...
If it were me I'd save ALL that money (including paint job) and get some performance goodies... for the amount of money you have/will spend you could probobly afford a turbo or a swap.

well i dunno about the paint, i prefer some pearl in my paint, something that makes it look like it came from the factory (yeah my car has pearl from the factory in it) and most of the kits are ugly but i have a soft spot for the wings west big mouth and typ- kits. they just make their kits somehow to look like it's stock.

that color is royal sapphire pearl... enjoy:D
ps- yes, it is very pimp;)

HL, I appreciate that a lot man. I think this is the color I'm going to paint my car. Do you think my car would look good in royal sapphire pearl? Anyway man, I sat in an integra today that this chinese guy owns, it's straight hooked up, it's painted 350Z blue. It's really nice, I like it but would hate to sport the same color as him. That's why I don't want my car white, white is everywhere. I don't want my car electron blue because that's everywhere also. So I'm looking at:
Royal Sapphire Pearl (are metallic flakes in that paint?)
Midnight Blue w/ Metallic flakes and a Red Pearl
Anyway, I really appreciate the name of that color bro.

Sure, no problem. Just tell your painter you want Royal Sapphire Pearl that comes on Supras (it is the rarest color). If he knows shit, he will know how to mix it...
jjcivic92
08-26-2003, 09:21 PM
true that, does it have like some fine metallic flakes in the paint?
Wren57
08-26-2003, 10:53 PM
Thats what I was saying- I don't think so. Your painter can look up the correct mixture for that color and give you a better answer than I can.
nonovurbizniz
08-26-2003, 10:55 PM
you can make any color... they don't order a can of "royal" whatever...
it's a mix that they look up... then they can add anything to it you want...
IE metal flake... flex... pearl etc...

Royal Sapphire pearl is the color it's getting painted. i want my car to look how that supra does at night. that thing is bad.

so lemme get this straight..your gonna get this color on the outside but leave the engine bay white? looks funky don't you think?

not unless you pop the hood, and their isn't much reason to pop the hood on a civic:D
jjcivic92
08-27-2003, 04:46 PM
On my civic, there's no reason to pop the hood at all. you might let one of my hampster's loose.
I stopped by the place today, to see if they can get a hold of some royal sapphire pearl, and it's a color listed under 1997 Toyota. Do y'all think I should get some fine metallic flakes added? After all of this gets finished, my next step is lowering the car. Eibach Pro-kit(F: 1.4 B: 1.6), Eibach Sportline(1.75 - 1.8), Skunk2(2.0 - 2.25). I'm leaning toward the Eibach Sportlines right now.

sportlines are SHITTY springs in my opinion... I don't like linear rate springs at all... They have one spring rate... that makes for very little chance of them adapting to anything... they're either too soft or too stiff... With progressive rate springs they have both soft and stiff coils which are used under different circumstance.... It makes for a much more dynamic spring.
the pro-kits are sick... but take some getting used to and WILL NOT lower your car much at all.. there will still be plenty of a gap between the tire and fender line...
You may want to look into "Ground Control" springs... they are adjustable so you can set whatever hieght you want... and they use eibach springs... I'm not sure if they're available with progress rates or not... I don't think so... but I'm not sure.
As far as the flake... I'd ask them to mix a touch of it different ways and let you see the results... that way you can see which one YOU like more...
Also be sure to ask them about what color primer they'll use... white will make it much more bright where as black will make it much darker and richer... They may not even be planing on primering it though.. they may just sand off/into your clearcoat and paint from there... in which case you may want them to mix it a little darker then specified... since the white color underneith will make it brighter then it seems on a sample.

agreed. the color is listed under 1997 because, well, it was only painted on 1997 supras;) . No metal flake IMO, it looks cheap...

Appreciate that info. bro. How much are the ground controls and stuff going to run? I think I'll check with Stefan, maybe he carries them. I'm worried about how far I'm going to lower my stuff. I have 7.5" wide rims, no tucking those bad boys without rolling some fenders or something, maybe no tucking at all. That's what I had the pro-kit in my mind. I'll try and find some of those ground controls on the net. Thanks again. This is another paint job color I have in mind as of now:

you think that color blue would look good on my civic? I really like it, I just wished I knew the name of it. the guy who owns the car gives the description: "custom metallic blue" Here's another color I like, "Custom Gunmetal": (Too many choices and only one decisions can be made. I really like that metallic blue, but I have to know what color it is before I'll get it.)
