What kind of b16 is in the 99-00 si ? i have the chance of buying one pretty cheap but it needs an engine, so if you could tell me what kind of engine is in it so i could start looking for the parts and do like an estimate on the costs of fixing it.

A B16A2. It is 1.6 liter, DOHC VTEC engine. Pretty nice if I do say so. Not much of as Si without that engine though. I hope you aren't paying much for it. Does it come with EVERYTHING else? The chassis is different from a regular civic, and they handle better though. You can get an engine for about 2 grand. Make sure you know what you are getting though, like does it come with tranny, axles, wiring harness, ecu, oilpan, distributor, etc... You should compare the price of a USDM Si to the price of a JDM B16A 2nd gen. If it's not too much more-depending on where you get it- go for the 10 extra horses. I did;)

damn...it better be super cheap man
its basically the same car as the EX coupe of the same generation...about the only difference I can think of right now is that it comes stock w/ a front tower bar and the springs are a bit stiffer...oh and a nicer interior (cluster, cd player, amber lit stuff, etc)

well the car is a salvage and it's missing the engine, the gauge cluster, the entire audio and the back seat. i wanna buy it rebuild it and sale it. other than that the car is complete, so i wanna bring it to stock. here the si's in the delaerships don't last longer than 3-4 days. i guess that will sell really fast and pay off some of my debt that i got into with this damn school.

Show me. B16A2's are not plentiful at all and get quite expensive. Maybe you're thinking of the second gen B16....even then, that's a low price. Anyway...show me :|

yup it's a salvage title but i can get rid of it by passing the state inspection. all i want is a little extra money you know, not to keep the car as a hot rod.

even if i can't and sell it for less, it's gonna be some money in for me. they go for around 14-16k around here, and the repairs + car are gonna be like 8-9k.

exactly...the engine is going to be the most $...but do an obd1 conversion and drop a sirII in there and youd be fine
oh...I forgot rear disc brakes :banghead:
IMHO...its not woth your time if youre just going to sell it...but...if you decide not to go ahead w/ it....let me know how much they want for just the rear brake setup

it's not worth the money...
If you can't "fix" the salvage title (which you shouldn't be able to do) ... it DEFINATELY won't be worth doing it...
also be carefull doing this as an individual... if you have a "corporation" to hide behind it's fine but if something goes wrong with the car the buyer can sue you for EVERYTHING you're worth...

I have seen a B16a2 go for $2000 back in Houston TX. It even came with the tranny and OBD2 ECU. It was a one time deal. Dont ask me why I didnt get it, i'll just feel stupid....

^ I could have gotten a full LS swap for 1000 bucks a year or two back... I feel like a dumbshit for not getting it... but now I think I may be getting into a situation that facilitates a MUCH better deal on a MUCH better engine...

He may be able to get the engine alone for that price (most likley an b16a1) , but it does seem unlikley to get one with the tranny and axels for only 2 grand. I paid $2600 for mine. Did the take the ecu too? Betta check.
