what good do those things do anyways
think of it this way, by the time that you pick up the radar signal, guess who else is getting that signal?
any guesses.....that's right the officer with the gun, plus now most of them use Lasers to detect your speed, I would know, I got pulled over by the effer.
save the money for the impending ticket that you obviously are asking for, it's a waste:|
a better solution for a radar detector is simple and FREE..that's right free!
slow down a bit capt'n:yes:

What? my radar detecor cost about $130 and has saved me from a lot of tickets. I don't know where you live but most po po's here don't use laser......there are just a few state troopers, and my radar still picks that up. Also I usually pick up the signal way before they can see me, since the bands bounce off of cars in front of you. Then again you can always just slow down.

look on ebay, or I believe the website is valentine.com , not sure about that though. It runs about $400 everywhere. The Passport Escort 8500 is great too for a bit cheaper (240ish on ebay). You recieve radar signals from the radar gun after they bounce off trees, cars, buildings, etc, which let you know its there long before you recieve a direct signal from the gun itself. Hence why you radar detector will go crazy passing a cop but will only beep lightly before he gets you...

Yea.. radar detectors are garbage.. if they "saved" you tickets it is because the cop didn't feel like pulling you over. Only thing they are good for is giving you less or a speeding ticket maybe by allowing you a second to slow down... maybe. But you can save yourself a ticket by using a little common sense. Be aware of your surroundings and what is going on around you. Watch oncoming traffic as well as the traffic you are driving with to see what speed they are driving, and what they are doing. Also a good indication is truckers. They have scanners and know what cops are doing. If they are speeding, most time it is safe.. if they are going the exact speed limit I would not push it.
Radar detectors in the city are definately 100% garbage btw.

bingo. know your surroundings.. check your mirrors all the time....
night driving is trickier, but if you're on the freeway, and theres a huge gap between you and the cars behind you, you should be relatively safe to speed.

I cannot speak on behalf of you guys, but there have been several times where a cop is sitting in the medium running radar, my detector picks him up from a mile or two away, and I am able to slow down and pass the cop under the speed limit. There have been several times on I-95 where I was doing 100+, the detector goes off, and I get on the brakes hard, only to pass a cop 30 seconds later.
It's really personal preference, I never thought that I would want a radar detector. Then I got one as a gift, and love it. The Valentine One is arguably the best radar detector, but it is also one of the most expensive. I personally use the Bel Vector 960 and I'm very happy with it. Tons of features, few false alarms, and easily customizable.

when did the V2 come out?

Here's a almost sure fire way to not get pulled, find someone who is definatly speeding and stay behind them, unless you have bad bad luck the person infront of you will get pulled first, I don't find it often that two or more po's congegate.
watch your surroundings like others said, you can usually pick out a cop car by sight long before. oh and learn the local laws for the Police to follow and use them to your advantage.

If the cops accuse you of doing something actually legal, and you challenge them, would you get into problems of resisting arrest or something? Say it was blatantly legal and the cop's an a-hole.

Greetings to all community members. The reason for writing this note was a large amount of conflicting information on this topic. Sometimes there is a complete feeling that people do not even approximately know the material on which they are writing WritingEssays (https://writingessays.com/), and the recommendations come either purely from commercial interests, or from shallow knowledge of the material. Do you need a radar? If you receive fines from video cameras, you may need it. It all depends on what kind of cameras they are - stationary or another type.
