Supercharging.........

I have a b16a2 in my civic and I'm going to supercharge it. I would like to know if anyone has experience with a jackson racing or vortec supercharger on their b16.

some people have had a gay assed time with Jackson's supercharger in terms of quality + especially customer support. I've heard nothing but good stuff from vortec however.

neither are going to give you great results for the amount of money you spend......imo, dont waste your time. Get a turbo instead.

IMO a supercharger is best for street drivability, but power-wise a supercharger can't touch a well tuned turbo setup...so its really your preference

u gotta figure setting back quite a few G's for a supercharger when u go turbo kit with everything u need and double the horsepower for prob just a little bit more then what u will pay for the supercharger, definately boost it man

Thanks for the input and I hear what everyone is saying but I'm not taking my car to the track like that. I drive it to school everyday and I need something that going to be reliable. I wont be able to overhaul my engine if I destroy my o rings or somthing like that from too much boost (cuz money is tight). But I hear what your saying

boost coming from a supercharger is no more reliable than boost from a turbo, nor is it any cheaper(usually its more).

Superchargers for our cars SUCK...

A. our cars have NO lowend torque... adding another pulley (especially a heavy drag one like a SC).
B. As mentioned the JRSC has TERRIBLE customer support/service... they COMPLETELY ignore people hoping they'll go away... it is NOT orgainized by the company "jackson" they're built by them for another company who has ALL responsibility for service/support... they do NOT care about protecting they're name.
C. The vortech unit is WAY WAY too big for our engines... the same size blower is available for a 5.0 mustang for gods sake.
D. As mentioned boost from a sc is NO more reliable then turbo boost...

If you have a turbo "kit" installed it will be just as reliable as a sc... as long as it's installed/tuned properly... which is the SAME thing for the sc...

Turbo is definately your better option..

both available sc kits for our cars SUCK.

the rev-hard turbo kit for civics is pretty good... although no "kit" is even near perfect... they all run well and reliably if installed properly and left alone.

Agreed- go with turbo and spend the cash to get it tuned right. If you want, they can make you multiple fuel maps with a simple switch to go from boost to non-boost for normal driving...

Damn it. You people just don't get it. I hate turbo. I really hate that sh*t! But I have to admit that you have brought up some very good points and I think that I will go with a turbo setup and blow the comp away. Thanks for the input. Now whose gonna bail me out for doing 140mph in a 55? ;). O when I do I'll have a dc sports 4-1 one piece and a aem v2 going up for sale. Holla.

Oh yeah one last question on the subject. Due to the fact the I will now have to get an intercooleer will I be able to keep my A/C? I need my a/c cuz I can't have my son dying in summer heat.

The intercooler is not the factor that will deterime the removal of your A/C. It will just slap in front of your car like the pic on my sig. What will push you to that decission is the exhaust manifold. The exhaust manifold maybe too big that it will require dismantling of your A/C.......
