this may sound like a stupid question, but the oil that comes in the K&N Filter recharge packs, is that just regular oil or is it a special blend? just wondering if i can use one of the many bottles of regular oil that are sitting in my garage...

The oil that I got was more of a fluid, somewhat simliar to umm... the oil I use for my paintball gun (which is alot more expensive then the K&N crap) or the sharpening oil for knives. Using motor oil on your air filter would be a very very bad thing.
The fluid servers several purposes. It conditions the filter material, fill in small holes, and makes the cloth-filter fire retardant. Splurge the $10 and get it, it should be good for 3 or 4 cleanings.
Which reminds me, my filter needs to be cleaned.

haha, man I havent used pball gun oil in like 2 years.

My last few guns have been Smart Parts stuff.. requiring dow 33.

impy, shocker, and my maxflow all needed dow. Even my eclipse cocker i never oiled (damn dow33 would leak from the reg into my gun..)

Yeah, just buy the oil. It will last you a long time and its pretty cheap.

I always soaked my 'cocker in oil... it was to the point where when I gassed it up, oil would spray out the 3-way and breech. Oh well, good times. The thing shot like a dream. It still does actually, it's just been sitting here going unused for over a year... I should really try to sell it.

(Sorry about jacking your thread).
