If you've read my last thread, i talked about redoing my bose stereo system in my car. Well, i gave that up, many people suggested not to do it, because of the integration, and having to redo all the wiring, and everything. My question now is about a new bose head unit. I have been frequenting ebay and other resale sites, trying to find resale bose cd players that i could replace my old bose cassette deck with. I am wondering about the compatibility of other head units with my bose system. Is a unit still compatible if its for a more recent model of car? I'm not so much worried about the physical aspect of the fitting, i will take measurements and make sure the dimensions match up, but i am wondering if most of the units out there would work with my system. I appreciate any comments, and advice you have, thank you.

I don't see why you can't just replace the Bose system you have. As far as integration goes, does it control anything else, like anti-theft? Is there a factory amp? If not, it shouldn't be too hard to swap in a new deck of your choice.

i don't see why you can't just replace the headunit(if that's what you wanna do). all the accords from 90 to 02 have the same wire harness for the audio, and they will work with pretty much any headunit you throw at it provided that you have the correct wire harness. i don't think the 90-93 accords had anything integrated in the sound system

Yes, the system does include the factory amp, and i've been told that no other brand of head unit works with the system in this case. Hondaman, thanx for the input, that answers all my questions.
