Well introductions are n order!
My name is Jim I have a 1988 Honda prelude 2.0s
She currently isnt running right now (pretty soon though)
I have no plans to soup up or any thing wife and i like it the way it is.
She was running but after having the starter replaced there is a strange noise comming form the engine area (see below for noise description)
Im taking a nice little 2000 from my 401k to get her fixed up

Sound is as follows
Comes from the right side of engine its a cross between air squeezing through a small opening and 2 pieces of metal RUBBING not grinding against each other car is very hard to start and will normally start get to around 500 rpm then die if you give it the slightest amount of gas the rpm's shoot to 4000 then shut downs immediatly!! by that i mean it no longer fires it just slows down to total loss of spark!!!! any ideas??? thanks
Jim

nah 401k is a post employment financial security thing.

anyways, about your problem.

Lets see.. first, pull the plugs and check the condition.. white = lean, carbon deposits = rich.. then run a compression test.

What I'm thinking about the whole shooting up to 4k.. is that possibly an injector is stuck open? then it floods the engine till it just bogs down and shuts down?

Is that what happens? Is the car throwing any codes? Anyways, pull the plugs first and find out whats happening in those cylinders.
