well, i finally got my CF hood. it's a VIS. i now have a coupla questions. first off, the rubberized foam-type liner that was on the nose of the factory hood is not on this one, do i need it? i'm thinking yes. where do i get it? also, as far as maintenance, do you wax it (the hood)?

.. thats a good question actually. I'm not too sure if you'll need the rubberized part, I think its only there to create a "more" water tight seal.. I'm not really sure if you would need it or not. If you neglect to put it on, I'm sure you can just prevent water from getting on your electrical components with some basic preventative measures.

well, see, the thing is, there is this wide gap btwn the top of the grille and the bottom of the hood... it doesn't look that great. where would i be able to get the water tight stuff??

are there holes to mount it on the hood (I think there should be)...

You don't "need" it but it should be there... you could probobly bond it on with some black silicone adhesive...

Yeah I'm pretty sure you can/should wax the hood.. they buff it out with wax from the factory to give it a shine...

It didn't come with any maintanance instructions?

If not I'd call the manufacturer and ask them what they recomend... that way if anything goes wrong it's on them not you.

Oh and the way the hood sits is adjustable... do the rest of the seems line up well... with just a big gap in the front?

If the rest looks a little high you can just loosing the couple 10mm bolts holding the hood latching mechanism and adjust it by pushing that further down... be sure to lower the bumpstops too though...

is it adjustable if the case is that it sits slightly off center?

i don't know an exact weight, but it's reaaaaaally light; it weighs about half as much as the factory hood. here are some pics:

Yeah...

Did you do it yourself?

The trick is leaving all the bolts kinda loose and jiggling it back and forth to get it sitting right...

If you loosen the 4 bolts that hold it on (2 on each side...) there should be some wiggle room... a SMALL wiggle down there (by the bolts) can equal a big difference in where the front of the hood sits...

you should be able to get that thing all lined up looking stock...

Looks very nice! It seems like it fits over your lights just fine but ends up a little short over the grill. I'm not sure if you can adjust that better or not...

yea, it's all good, i just need to figure out where to buy the sealant stuff, and it won't look as bad. it's got predrilled holes for where i'd screw it in...

yea, i put it on with a couple of more hands from my dad. although it's light, to screw it in, you need someone to hold it up...

it's amazing how much dif the car feels after taking off the extra weight... there's not as much drop in the rpms when i shift... and it takes of quicker...

good buy, just see if you can take the sealant off the OEM hood then bond it onto the CF one

not if you use the right tool... or know how to get them off... either way it shouldn't matter all that much your local honda dealer should have them in stock for not much at all...

^right

like $2 for the clips @ dealership, $1.46 @ majestic

$31.28 for a whole new seal AND clips @ dealership, $23.45 @ majestic

(give or take a few $ for dealership prices)
