View Full Version : Where do you get your money?

Ok, i don't know if this is a weird question or not. But i don't understand where alot of you people get money out the ying yang! LIke some of you will just up and go buy air ride kits, rims, tires, engine mods and exterior mods every now and then. I can see people doing it now and then but it seems ALOT of you guys always have cash on hand to spend 1000-5000 (body kit, paint job, etc). So i'm curious as to if alot of you guys and gals take loans or borrow money or just have everythign paid off and can afford to do it. OR if your parents buy it for you, or if you get deals, or maybe if you do monthly payments. SO TELL ME!!

currently Im a sales assistant at Wachovia Securities, I basically do all the work for the stock broker but he gets all the money:mad: . Can't complain though, I get $10/hour and every once in a while some under the table money if I land a big trade;) . Other than that I just save my money and when I do spend it, I spend it wisely and shop around for a good deal and NEVER buy retail!
ps- Im going to be a freshman in college this fall

I just save it, but instead of buying things for the car like you mentioned, I spend in on travel and golf things. Oh yeah, I'm a consultant in the pharmaceutical industry.

I'm on a BMW forum, and the amount of money that some of those guys have is outragous. There are quite a few people who have no real "job" but still have $50k cars. I think alot of it is rich families.
But me... I worked at supermarket for 2 years bagging groceries. Then, I started college and sponged off my parents until the scholarship money started coming in. Over the summer, I just lived off of savings and charged stuff on the credit card. Now, I am working full time for WalMart Neighborhood Market in the photo department. The pay isn't that great (started at $6.75, should go to $8.25 after my 90 day eval) but I get plenty of hours.
As for right now, I am going to have a $1000+ credit card bill coming in this month, and no real way to pay for it (payroll doesn't get caught up until early August). I might have to borrow some cheese from my parents or just pay the minimum and get raped on the interest.

pay off your big bills first by paying way more than the minimum(like car bills and crap) not only will you save on interest but you can use that cash every month that you were sending to the bill collector on MODZ!

I only make decent money...but I've had the same job for around 5 years so my reviews are usually good and I get a decent raise fairly regularly (2 or 3 times a year. Plus my company is fairly generous with stocks and I work a shitload of overtime. It sucks ass but you just need to keep your mind focused on whatever it is that money will go towards. It doesn't hurt to do whatever work you can do by yourself and buy good used parts. It just takes time...my car has taken me a good 4 years to get where it is.

i have borrowed money in the past for mods but for recent ones i have just saved for a while. Basically spend every dollar on mods aside from car payments insurance etc.

Money is relative. I took the money I saved from buying a used civic instead of a new car. :) Seriously though, I'm old with college degrees and a salaried office job... though I have fond memories saving up gas money at $6/hr back in high school.

That's awesome Pimp....
I work for www.vugames.com, Techincal Support. Roughly $13 an hour, lots of OT though. Have to save up for anything. Besides that I frequent junk yards, buy parts there and sell them on ebay. Business is going down though, so many people have jumped on the import bandwaggon. it's crazy.

I'm really bad with money. I make close to $4k a month for being an E-6 in the Navy (11yrs). My civic is paid off, but I have a freaking over $10k loan from creditors and banks combined. I also pay $940 a month on a single bedroom apartment, utilities, insurance, blah blah blah....... overall, I'm strugglin. For the most part, what gets me through is patience. I wait and do long term researches before I buy upgrades for my car. I frequent junkyards like ShagginJet and sell stuff all over the place. I also have some connections who gives me free stuff for helping them work on their car. The best money saver out there is to install your own modification. Labor cost is a biatch!
Grip72
07-16-2003, 05:53 PM
yes, labour IS a biotch. I just did my own front brake pads and the total cost was like $55. At the cheapest place in town, they wanted $150 plus taxes. So i saved a shyzer load. There aren't any great junkyards around here for imports. Imports are not very big in my town right now but slowly people are starting to modify them. I would like to frequent a junk yard and sell parts, but our junkyards are EXPENSIVE and i would have no buyers...

the worst job ever...school custodian...
now, its alright in the summer...besides washing furniture...but I do a lot of hiding out and my "busy walk" so it looks like i do work. During the yr I clean up after people that etch things into tables, piss on walls, and leave gum in the carpet...oh and teachers that dump coffee in trash cans...wft!? Its about $2k/mo
Other job that I only work once in a while anymore is general construction (drywall and finishing) and demolition...that makes about $13/hr cash
I still dont have enough for tires for my new rotas......

No, I make it possible for the dealers (field sales reps) to sell more to prescribers, who ultimately write the prescription for whatever ails you.
I provide better physician information and the information that a rep needs to get to see a doctor. The rep provides product information to the physician and takes him/her to dinner and puts together programs for his/her staff. The physician write scrips for that product for you, and you take that drug. You pay for it, and the money goes back into many pockets.

hehehe, i work in an amusement park, working in food service, i basically run the cash register and prepare your highly overpriced food. It's an okay job, can't do much else since i'm still in school. The perks are that i get free entrance into the water park and amusment park, talk about totally wasting myself on the rides

I didn't buy the car myself nor claim to. It was a gift from my parents and grandparents, with a little bit of help from me. It took me over a year talking to them to convince them I wanted a sports car and that I wouldn't kill myself or anyone else in it. Now I'm enjoying my Z and being safe on the streets. I RARELY street race any more, and when I do its open traffic to only 80 or 90mph, and thats only like 12 seconds... never play through traffic, thats not cool and VERY unsafe...

actually...it doesn't effect most telemarketers...just go to the website...i think it's www.donotcall.org but i'm not sure.
Just read what it's all about...it doesn't effect non-profit organizations, surveyers, or phone companies...there might be a few other things too...if people mess with me though...i just **** around with them back...

Surveyers are great cuz you can get free shit from them sometimes. Just ask them what's in it for you if you take their survey. If they say "nothing" just hang up. It sounds shitty but they're taking up your time and getting valueable marketing from it so it's ok.

It will only affect telemarketing companies who you don't already do business with that require paymant over the phone...If the subject of the call does not require any form of payment (during the phone call) by law, it is not considered Telemarketing. It is a "courtesy call"
By the way, Be carefull what you say to a telemarketer...They can use your telephone numer on GOOGLE search to find your address...sh!t they even get a link to mapquest.com showing a map to your home.
I work at a calling center that had an issue. Some guy cursed out a co-worker of mine...Called him the "N" word...and it wasen't "Nizzle for Shizzle", and the kid was Equadorian which made the comment lose it's effectiveness, but never the less the kid got angry...Don't ask me how but the kid found out that the guy lived 30 miles from the office and caught up with th guy and wuped his ass infront of his wife and kids. Anyways they arrested the kid and the guy never knew why he got his ass wuped...

Two words STUDENT LOANS haha. J/K I can't wait til I'm done school so I can get a real job. But for now I work for a contracted company that works under MCI. So when you guys call that 1800# and snap b/c of a high bill. I'll just laugh and sell you a higher plan, and send you guys on your way. On the side I work on web pages, and computers my first major. After my grandpa's death I moved in with my awesome Grandma to keep her company. So that eliminated rent, food, utilities right there. I put my car insurance under my parents name. And take dates to McDonalds whenever I can and use the words I'm living on a student budget :busted: HAHAHA
