It allows easy access for hackers to get into your computer.. Some Virus programs will pick stuff like that up, but not everything. Its not a good thing. Im Glad I dont use it. I didnt know that it did. Makes sense tho.

BlackIce is another good one. It tells you if ports have been probed or if someone has tried to enter through them.
Warning: BlackIce on XP will cause bluescreens. Not suggested as of now.

and for the screw up to be complete, win 2k won't let u format with direct cd, or make a udf disk with nero (which is basically the same thing). Gee i hope my new hard drive will be here soon so i can go linux.

for those of you who absolutely want to keep KAZAA (beacause of its pretty colors)..
there is a patch + edit of one of the config files that will solve the problem...
Otherewise Morpheus is it's twin! But has no spyware.
You guys could download ad-aware to check what are all the spywares that are installed on your cpu.

Yeah, I have that, but (at least on some of them) when you remove the spyware, the program stops functioning w/o a hack.

94_Accord: same for Kazaa it dies if you simply remove the spyware.

My router locks down all ports, and as for the sypware, yes Adaware is what I use ::yes::
Direct CD and UDF, I never use those, I never plan to ;)
My second router is running linux, there is no HD just running off one floppy disk ::yes:: ;)

Linux is a beautiful thing......
We ran a server with the hard drive unplugged on accident. It still ran. It just gradually got slower. So we opened it up and the cable was undone. Crazy. Let's see windows do that......
