Anyone done this? What is a good year to swap in the SR20DET into a 240? I am sick of my car and wouldn't mind a project car!

It won't work on your car with 240SX. http://www.stopstart.freeserve.co.uk/smilie/jpshakehead.gif

the s13 is going to lighter but i think the s14 looks better, especially with an s15 conversion for the front end. the s13 det will be cheaper, around 2500 for a front clip, while an s14 det front clip would be like 3500. lookin at around 1500 for labor, and that is without the cost of an intercooler or new internals, or anything else that you may want.

i'd go with a S13 coupe...i like the squareness i guess.....i don't like the way the S14's extend all the way to the trunk or whatever....S13 with an S15 would be pretty....and i'm sure the SR20 would also compliment the S13

SR20DET is the turbocharged I-4 that comes in the Sylvia.
S13 was the semi-boxy body style of the 230SX's, that body style ran up until '95.
The S14 started in '95 and went until '98, although the headlights are slightly different on '97's and '98s then on previous years.
I was looking at s14's and you'll pay anywhere from $4500 to $7000 for the body. The engine itself will cost you about $2300 to $4000 depending on condition.
If you want a real project car, I would go for this. It's a true Silvia (RHD) but it needs alot of work. http://www.titanmotorsports.com/rederhdnisi.html

sylvia is the name of the 240 in japan...
if you're interested in this you should just go to google and search for...
"240 sr20det swap"
"nissan silvia" + s13, +s14 etc etc...
You should do a LOT of reading...
I have a question for any of the dudes who are all nuts about these things...
Which ones are awd... and what models.... do the swaps or front clips come with the rear end and tranfer case?
just wondering.

the SR20's (all versions, s14,s13- exception of s15 gearbox) all bolt up to the tranny. Its like pluggin a b18c into a civic. Only thing that gets most people is the wiring.
the RB's are another thing... rb26dett tranny is AWD, rb25det tranny is RWD as well as the RB20DET.
I'm not sure if the pulsars came awd for the sr20 they pack under the hood... anyone verify that? too lazy to search.

oh, and be ready to shell out some cash. This will cost a good 4-20k USD for the clip and upgrades. Depends how hard you want to push the 4 banger. Remember, if you keep it at stock boost, you should be ok, but off the bat you will need to purchase a new IC as well as mandrel bent pipes... slim radiator with twin electric fans.. and a larger fuel pump.

Oh, and nonovurbiz, to mount a RB series motor in a 240, it will require custom fabrication of the driveline as well as custom engine and transmission mounts. .. Also requires you to purchase a r33 crossmember.

there are no awd silvias
closest thing would be a gti-r, but that is only because they share the same motor, but obviously the tranny is completely different. actually the normal pulsar may have had awd, sorry too lazy also. but quite a bit of nissans in japan have awd.
lots of the s15 clips are coming with the rear as well, but not true for the previous gen's. you don't need everything though, the front clip is enough. most people will just upgrade their brakes off a z32 or skyline.
Accord17-
if you're looking into this seriously take these things into consideration.
if you're going to do it right, expect to spend quite a bit of money, you will need to find someone who can hook up the wiring correctly or else you will be driving around without all your accesories working. do not buy just the motor, get the whole clip, yeah it costs more but it would be more costly to buy the individual parts that you may be missing if you chose to just get the motor and tranny, especially if the wiring harness is cut.
you're going to need to focus on suspension and brakes first before cranking up the hp on the motor. this isn't like swapping a b18 into a civic, you'll be putting in a motor capable of 600hp on stock internals, and many people have a habit of trying to hit that hp with little suspension and brake work and end up losing parts of their car.

and speaking of awd, i got to drive next to a r32 gtr today on the way home from work, looked like some dork driving with an ugly girl in the passenger seat, i revved but he never looked over, he was fearing the 4-banger. looked nice though, it was silver and had what looked like a nismo weldina exhaust.
