Well, as ya'll know i got back from Europe and i got a job as a Pizza Delivery Driver. Unfortunatley, i only made minimum wage ($8/hour) and was only part-time. This was NO way to make enough money for school in late August. SOOOO, i applied for another job on an oil rig and seems like i got it. They made me do a drug/piss test, a health/medical test and checked my ablitity to move my joints and muscles etc, etc. So i was supposed to go to orientation tomororw but thigns got messed up and it got cancelled. So now i'm waiting for a call back for more info. Anyways, i'm going to quit the pizza gig and this job starts me off at $16/hour. 2 of my friends work for this company and make $19-21/hour. They work like crazy, around 70hours a week and that's 30hours of PURE overtime baby. They figure i'll make an easy 6k this month so i'm pretty excited. Just thought i'd share.. :loco:

Congrats man. I need to find another job too, cause I'm only making like just over 1k a month now and I'd like to double that by the end of the month atleast.

Congrats!
But damn that's alot of hours. Given you only have 168 in a week. Minus your 70 at work. That's only 14 hours a day you're not working. Factor in sleep. ahh...
Anyhow, enjoy the job.

Yea, I need money BAD! I wanted to do something like that, or go work at a resort or summer camp for a few months, do nothing but work to get some money to my name. As it stands right now, I have $7 in my pocket, a $400 credit card bill coming any day now, and no job :\
I have a few questions about the oil rig. Do you have to pay for food and board or is that taken care of? How often do you get to come back to shore and is there a certain commitment? Thanks alot.

It is not an offshore drilling rig. It is on land. Sometimes i might have to go to camp but then i am provided with food. (very good eating) I will also be given either a hotel room or another means of accomadation. (big words = smart sounding). Most of the time i will probably only be gone around a week at a time, or less. In winter however, people are gone for months at a time.

Hey man, i kinda resent that. (is that the word i'm looking for?) I mean, sure, i'll try pretty much anything just for the hell of it, but i'm not odd. Am I? (jaws music kicks in...da na..da na...:loco: And I think i still have some of those pics on my computer.

ok, i quit my Pizza Delivery job yesterday after my shift. First day i worked 4 hours, second shift 2hours, last shift 3 hours. I worked a total of 9 hours at this job within 3 days..3 freakin days!! HAHA. my boss was pretty pissed when i quit. i told him that it wasn't working out for me and that i found another job. He threw his hands up in the air and said loudly "HE QUIT" and stormed off..haha, it was entertaining. So that's done now. I called the oil rig company and i have orientation in a town 2.5 hours away at 7am. So im 'trying to find a place to stay the nite before. I am pretty excited..

Well, i am finished the orientation now and i start next week so far. I now have TONS of tickets. I've got my TDG (transportation of dangerous goods) my COADC (forget what it is) H2s Alive, Scott-pack training, and like 4 other certificates that i fail to remember. Anyways, i start at $15.60/hour and i am nervous as hell. I have first weeks on new jobs....wish me luck!
