I was just wondering if you guys report that you modified your cars or what. I just don't want to get screwed if i get in an accident. I have americain family insurance i don't know if anyone has that but i am sure most are similar. Thanks in advance.

i think you can get "custom insurance" with the major companies.... cuz if you have DDE's headlights, carbonfiber hood, buddy club front bumper, and flaired fenders, and custom paint, and your on "stock insureance"... they will quote you for a stock hood, headlights, bumber, paint, and quater pannel.... so your gonna get raped. best thing you can do is become buddies with the local body shop, ask around to see who will quote you good prices, and go there. up to you.

Are you concerned that they won't pay to fix the mods, or are you concerned they'll be pissed you modded your car without telling them?

I always assumed that when they asked questions such as "Do you have any modifications that make your car go faster?" or "Is your car lowered?" they were looking to jack up the rate and call you higher risk.

I did... they would have paid for my amp and box when it got stollen but with the deductable I figured it'd just be easier to not claim it..

I haven't told my current company though... usually they just don't care.. and if it's for the sake of getting the parts insured it'll probobly only up your rates.

I have it on my Si. Basically just said I have about $2000 worth of custom equipment. They added about $5-10 a month. No big deal.

Yeah, when my car was involved in a hit and run the insurance covered my aftermarket fenders, corner lights, rims, and paint.
