Did my rear disk conversion this weekend

just got it done... almost... I need a new master but.. that should be done pretty soon..

I'll probobly do a write up in the eg section..

over-all it went easy... not as easy as I would've liked but not too bad...

took about 6-8 hrs.

you had to replace the rear spindles too ? how about the upper and lower control arms ? how much were your calipers because majestic lists mine as 7k a piece which i know is bull

you replace the whole trailing arm with the spindles installed...

you could just press-out the old drum spindles and press in the new disk'ns but that would be more work than it's worth.

as far as calipers for your car they shouldn't be more than 100 bucks ea... I got new front calipers for mine a couple weeks ago for 50 a shot... rebuilds but... what the hell is the point of buying new calipers...

go to autozone or actually go to nopionline. com and pick your car... they have rebuilds for 110 ea. that's a pretty good price.

I don't have any pics my hands were too dirty to do a photo shoot.. I should be doing the master today though so hopefully I'll take some pics then.

yeah i know about the calipers being 110 a pair at napa, advance and autozone but i wanted the real deal.

the rebuilds are nissan calipers... they're just rebuilt... if you're that set on staying stock then just order the caliper rebuild kit... they're EASY EASY EASY... you just gotta buy some specialty tools... could probobly do it w/out though...

I think I'm doing the master tonight... I gotta pick up my wife at work @ 830 then drive back home 900 then drive to my buddy's house who's got the shop 930-1000 then go to his shop 1030 and do it 1130... then drive him home then myself... IF all goes well.

nissan calipers ? i thought they honda put only akebono and nissin calipers on them

i meant nissin (or akebono)

either way it's just someone else's stock caliper with a rebuild kit installed... and everything checked for clearances.

No doing it doesn't make me HC...

holding the the trailing arm at eye level lined up while I got bolts in place makes me HC..:yes:

My buddy ended up showing up toward the end of the night and helping here and there... the next day he actually worked a bit too. so it was nice... I still haven't gotten the new MC on though... I got stuck in traffic last night on the way home so it was too late to do it.

Hopefully tonight.... ****** construction... CT is PLAGUED with it.

sort of done.... I went to my buddies shop tonight after picking up the wife... we got there at 10:30... bled it TONS of air came out... the pedal feels MUCH better.

I still think it needs a master but it might also need another bleed.

overall it's NASTY... totally different brake feel... there's virtually NO nose dive when you get on them hard... and the distance is reduced pretty well... I was totally going to test it and measure distances before and after but I couldn't wait and finding a spot is next to impossible.

anyway if anyone's interested I'll do a write up... ther are definately some snags that pop up. nothing serious though.

so in this image what did u get replaced ? #3&#4 ? or you went chaging the 19,20,21,22 and 29 and30

mine looks too different from that..

it was just the rear-trailing arm which has the spindle and hub and all on it... then you just run the lines and the e-brake cables...

after that you have to switch the master/booster and the prop. valve.. all really easy.

like I said some minor snags but nothing major.

Prop valve bracket was different and unchangable so I had to fab up a bracket to mount it to the firewall.

had to remove a bunch of crap to get the ebrake cables run.

booster is a BEOTCH. nothing like lying upsidown underneith your dash for 30-40 mins.

lining up all the flared lines and finger tightening the threads so they wouldn't strip probobly took the most time though.

then it's just bleeding and checking for leaks.

I didn't swap the master last night ... and at this point I'm pretty sure I need it and it's just sitting there so... I'll do that later in the week.
