Everyone,

Do you play golf?

I play golf a lot, I always practice in the golf range cuz I suck and I swing too fast. I like golf cuz it's all fun!

My brother and I used to be in a putting league. It was kind of like putt-putt golf, only alot more serious with averages and handicaps and whatnot. And the links didn't have any alligators or sunken pirate ships, it was like a real golf course, only miniturized.

Anyway, I play golf occasionally. We have a few sets out in the garage that are just hodge-podges put together from garage sales. I will usually just grab a few old golf balls, however, and launch them over my lake. The one good thing I am at (if not putting) is driving. I can get a good 150yards - 200yards.

I played for a couple of years back in high school, but I haven't had as much time in the last 4 years in college. I still play when I get a chance though, but I just do a lot worse than I used to :o

I love golf. The perk is that my friend works at a golf course, so I get free range balls!

Golf is boring to watch on TV, its something you have to experience playing though.

I love to golf. Course, beer needs to be involved. Nothing like getting shitty and tearin' around in a golf cart. Can't beat it.

might be but for me any sport is boring if it doesn't involve pistons or a rotary.

I just can't consider golf a sport. It's just not physically exerting. I don't think fishing is a sport. Nor do I think pool is a sport. I consider them hobbies. Mini golf rules though.

It takes a great deal of physical skill, coordination, some muscle endurance. Sounds like a sport to me. Where did you get your definition of a sport?

Yes, I play. I don't think I'll play as much this summer as last year, as my job has changed somewhat, but I should be able to play at least once every two weeks.

Actually, I'm looking at purchasing a new set of irons (Taylor Made RAC irons most likely).

BTW, if you want it to be physically exerting, skip the cart and carry the bag for 18 holes.

I am not trying to say that what I think is right and that golf is really not a sport. Nor am I saying that it requires no skill because if that were the case, everyone would be good at it. I was just merely stating my opinion on it. If I had the day off and my friends wanted to go out and play some sports, I would opt for basketball or baseball. Something that just takes more out of me physically.

Tell you what though. Go walk 18 holes and tell me how you feel the next day.

And yeah, mini golf does rule. Or putt putt if you're from the midwest.

I dont play golf...does anyone else think that golf is becoming kind of a yuppy sport...and I use the term 'sport' lightly.

It used to be only for fat rich men with bad taste in clothing.;)

I don't think walking 18 holes would bother me as I was a marshall for the GHO (Greater Hartford Open) in 99 because the company that I worked for was the main telecommunications provider for that event at the time so a lot of us did volunteer work. I had to walk around in 90 degree weather all day and hold up signs that said QUIET. I know that's not the same as golfing but I did the walk. I just feel bad for the people that have to carry the golf clubs around. I am a pretty athletic person and I like physical challenge and I just don't think that I would personally find that in golf.

No, but when you walk and golf, it's a pretty good workout. You realize it the next day. It doesn't seem like much, but it's more than you think.

Hmmmm. Well, I will tell you what. When I go away to my house in RI this weekend, if it is nice...I will try it out. I will probably suck at it but I will try.

Golf isn't about being good. It's about getting loaded and whacking at golf balls. Good times.

solpol you gotta remember things dont happen as fast down there... ya last 10years have seen the average age of the golfers at my local place dropping, which means more 'teens' are getting into it. Nothign wrong with that, its a good past time and well i still KNOW its not a sport.

SolPol

What do you mean exactly man? I was saying it's been that way for a while.

Yeah, my feet usually feel it by about the 15th hole. but it is a very satisfying ache, particularly if I'm playing well. Having a dual shoulder strap bag (Ping Hoofer 2 is a great bag) makes it a whole lot easier to walk the course than a single strap bag.

And don't forget walking up and down the hills adds to the workout.

I used to caddy... your all wimps... and I smoke like 2 packs a day.

I don't play but... my H.S. used to have a golf team.. I almost joined in my senior year cuz they were all burnouts... it was great they'd sneak off into the woods and smoke between holes.

made for some funny stories.

So if "fat" people can do it its not a sport?
baseball
football
They both have "fat" people playing.
You know why golf is one of the best sports, there are no overpriced crappy players. in golf to get payed you have to play

And lets face it golf is way more fun than playing baseball, which is America's National pastime:rolleyes:
