hmmm, filling that out with bondo will be a biatch. i would just weld a plate over it and use some body filler.

why do i have the feeling that youre going to mount your plate crooked...?

if ya really wanna do that then grind it out a bit so its paintless, screen over it and then bondo (ever mud drywall? its the same thing as patching)

weld a sheet that is FORMED to the area... then smooth over the seams. LOTS of filing before you go putting ANY filler on there much less bondo..

and if you put a screen and bondo'd over it... it would last MAYBE 6 months before it just started popping off... course that's only if NO ONE ever touches it. and you NEVER bump into anything backing up... then it'll just colapse.

Make sure you've seen a hatch w/ it done before you do it though cuz the one's I've seen look ill-poopy even when done right.... imo

yeah don't use bondo. i used it on my car to fill out a dent 2 weeks abo and now it's cracked. i would get the body filler that is green. i dunno the name of it thou.

my buddies nick name was "bondo" cuz of how much and often he used it...

Yes it can come out ok... and as a top coat it's fine... but if you lay down mesh and try to plaster it w/ bondo it WILL crack and come off in chunks.

the green stuff (i also don't know the name) is MUCH better... there are TONS of different ones out there...

If you want this done the best thing to do would be to bring it to a place that you have SEEN cars they have done and it looks mint..

Have the guy explain exactly what he'll do and what it'll cost.

you could diy it but the only way it'll come out good is if you have the skills/tools to weld sheet metal (and form it).
