an RSX Type S. Seems like a better plan to just lease a nice new car instead of buy a 95. Agree? and what color do i get? I like the blue and black. Thanks

Remember with a lease, you put a down payment, pay monthly rates and at the end of the lease you own nothing. With your income you are living beyond your means and its a waste of money.
Buy yourself a full car, dont rent one for 36months.

Doesn't the lease thing have a 'rent-to-own' program?

And I like the blue in those. It's sweet.

How's your lip?

PoleMan14

The lip is doing well. thanks. Actually that is where some of this car money is coming from

Rent-to-own program? Is that where you can purcahse it at the end of the lease?

GirlRacer
05-11-2003, 10:49 AM
Ya-I think they put like... a mileage limit on it... O ya! and if you go over those certain miles...they make you buy the car...

Definitely check into that!:paranoid:

LOL! You didn't sue your g/f's parents did you?

PoleMan14
05-11-2003, 11:15 AM
No haha we didn't sue, if I did I could have got 50-60k!!! but i dont want to be that person. My dad just asked there insurance company and they made a 10k settlement, to bad I only get about 2k, rest goes to school.

I really cannot decide what to do hear. I would love having a brand new RSX-S, u can put 12k on per year and 15 cents a mile after that which wont happen. I can always buy the car when i'm done if I want. I just don't know if I buy that 95' integra will it even last 4 years? and what about maitence costs? I may put more into an older car I own and it might not even last as long. This is why leasing is appealing right now.......... please help :|

This is how a lease works people...

you put a down payment, and get a certain number of miles you can drive each year, the more you put down at the start the less the 'buy out' is at the end. And this is because they have your money to work with. Then you pay month fees to pay for your car. When the time runs out on your lease you have 3 opions, renew the lease, buy out the car or walk away.

Walking away is stupid if you dont make alot of money because you've basically rented the car.

Renewing the lease might be hard if it has to many miles on it to be easily resold after the 2nd lease runs out.

Buying the car is the best bet in any lease.

Just remember 12k a year might sound like alot but you're going to want to drive your car everywhere.

On a more personal note, I leased my RL because at the time the interest rate on the lease was less then I could get from the bank. With a large 15k down payment I was able to get low monthly payments and also get a great buy out price. To top that off I didn't drive it as much as allowed so when I bought out the car I got a killer deal because the price was based on what the car 'should have on it.'

If this is your first car it'll be better if you truly own it. Remember if you lease the car you have to make the payments or they can sue you from breaking your contract and often there are HUGE fines when trying to get out of a lease. If you dont have a steady, well paying job a lease shouldnt' even be an opion for you. Not too mention if you're getting this car because you want MORE car then you can truly afford on your current income then it will be nothing but trouble. If you can't afford to buy the car you wont be able to afford the repairs on it.

Just be very careful bro...

I'd go with the integra. Hell ya, it'd be SWEEEEET to get that RSX- but the integra is an acura too, which is a honda in a different case, which means this car will last way more than 4-5 yrs. It'll go as long as you take care of it.

Just food for thought.;)

As for the conditions I got my RL, you'd know nothing about that so how about you shut up for a bit. I try to give the guy some good advice and link it to something thats happened with me and you open your mouth and go talking shit. Grow up!

And you still dont get the thing about south park...

btw i forgot to mention i got 4.6% on the car, so it was alot better then the interest rates a few years back.

mt.biker, i'm hypothesising that you bought your leased car?

ChrisCantSkate

i thought about a lease for a new car for me, jsut sell my car and set up a bank account to take money to pay the lease... but i couldnt take my money i worked my ass off for and invest it in a car that wouldnt be as nice as my current one (with 12k ish to make it a year or 2 on the lease and still have my spending money). i looked at new cars under 20k and nothing caught my eye that even seemed sort of worth it. if you plan on modding htis car... DO NOT LEASE. your gonna waste even more money in the long run.

 Me too man! I just love that song blame canada-its funny. It's even more funny cuz I knew it'd be taken wrong by some mindless silly ass- which is fine.;) haha

But yes, off topic. Lets try not to derail ok?;)

I have never leased a car-my main advice was that the acura would still be an alright buy cuz it's a honda in disguise. As long as it's taken care of, it'll take care of him.

But it's all about what YOU want. YOU do what makes you happy.

*sidenote-Hondamaniac-you are right-I've adjusted my posts. Don't be mad at me.:)

PoleMan14,

Don't lease the car unless you can't have the car for all the times. Buy the '95 or sell your old car.

Lease is no good cuz it's only 36 mnoths and high car payment.

PoleMan14
05-11-2003, 07:31 PM
I would have the car at all times........Acura has a very tempting deal right now at $265 per month for 48 months....hmmmmmmmmm

i wouldn't get my ears caught in a lease, but i for one i drive around 20-24k miles a year, so not even a new car will do it for me. before i end the payement on it it will have no value at all. :o

Yes at the end of the lease I was offered the buy out and I did. I was also offered an extra 3 year warrenty on top of the 4 year factory warrenty. So I was very happy wiht the lease, but a lease is very restricting and once your in it, dont bother trying to get out.

I'm leasing my car right now, and if i had to do it over again i would just buy a used car. It may seem alright to make payments the first year, but if you want to get another car, can't afford the payments, or start thinking about how much money your wasting just to give the car back or buy it out at thousands more than the retail price, its not a good idea

I agree!

Leasing isnt a bad idea for people that dont drive a lot and want a new car every so many years. But, If you want something for the long haul, and you plan on modding it. Save yourself the money and Buy.

Ive pondered leasing many times, but Im not sure. My parents have leased the last 3 or 4 of their cars. They have been pretty happy with it, up until this last time. They leased for 5 years, they hate their Durango, but they are stuck with it until the end of the term.

I agree 100% My parents leased a Nissan a few years ago and really wanted out of it, but the fines are way too high. They ended up with no car at the end of it.

Hmmmm now i'm thinking about financing a car for around 15 or 16k.....i could go new with a triburon, lancer, etc.....or go used and get whatever, even somthing on ebay. any ideas? thanks

Racing Rice

New tiburon, only if you get the V6 6spd.
New Lancer.. Not unless its an EVO. I drove and new Lancer for a rental cars.. Blows ass! Ill sell you a civic.. A lot cheaper then that!:o Its a much better car IMO. (Im not saying that because I have one either. I didnt like the Lancer at all. )

I wouldnt do Ebay, but thats just me.

There are tons of cars out there. The hardest part would be deciding what you want. Will you have a spare car for backup? Or will this be your only car.

I would say get a 95-97 3-series BMW. Sweet cars, you can pick them up around $10-15K. Just a thought. They arent great in the snow though. (But when you get 8 feet, what is?)

this would be my only car......would a beamer last long though? Wouldnt it have a lot of miles to be only 15k? thanks

No, you can get a nice 328i for that kind of money with about 20-30k miles...more or less.
And they usually are pretty good on maintenance until they get higher mileage. Even then. The only problem is when they do break, it's expensive to fix.

Dont least.....once you go to buy it your gonna end up paying way over what its worth

i wouldn't mind leasing the new celica's. they look good, except the back...

leasing :pukey

id rather buy a used car that just came off a lease from a dealer. That way you can still get factory & dealership warranty...plus the car is thousands cheaper...and its practically new
(I know lots of people that do this for new cars)

A BMW will last a very long time under the right circumstances. Like any other car, they have to be taken care of. I know lots of peeps with 200K+ miles on BMWs and they are still running strong.

A friend of mine bought a 97 328i w/Sport package for just under $15K. It had like 66K miles on it. Very, Very nice car.

You can get 318s for around $10K. Atleast in my area you can. Im sure if you looked hard enough you could find one around NY. The only down fall to them is the fact that they arent quite as good in the winter. If you get one make sure it has traction control, and maybe even some good winter tires.

Check out Autotrader.com for more idea of stuff in your area. I tempt you to atleast look at a BMW. Because they great feeling cars, you just may fall in love with one once youve driven one.

If you wanted to drive to Ohio, I know where there is a green 96 328i thats loaded other then the Sport Package. It has 68K miles on it, and they want like $11K-$12K for it.

celicas suck :P nuff said. I'd rather have a civic rather than a celica because you CAN swap the engine out easily, and find a huge aftermarket support for the civic.

Have you seen how many bodykits there are for the civic? Like 2! Veilside and some ugly looking one. I swear, every celica I saw at HIN and IXS had the veiliside kit... once you've seen one, you've basically seen them all.
