does anybody have the limited edition ground control coilovers. i bought them and i can't return them. they cost 300 so i'm going to put them on. i just wanted to know if anyone had them and what struts they had added if any. i only plan to lower about an 1.5 or maybe less. the ground control website says that for these i can only use certain struts and koni is not one. please look at this and tell me what you think. i have a 96 civic ex

From what they say you can use OEM shocks, in this case they referrence KYB GR2s which are one of the weakest OEM replacement shocks.
Keep your ride height higher and you should be fine, you might want to find to call them (530) 677-8600
for the spring rates on those springs, I doubt they are over 190lbs front and back.
Find out, if they are under that your factory shocks should be ok for about a year with a drop of less than 1.5"

i was thinking about maybe buying some new stock struts when i put them on. i really don't feel like paying 400+ for performance struts when the stock ones will work. if there are some aftermarket ones that are not much more than stock please tell me.

you might blow the oem or any non-performance oriented shocks if you lower too much.

You can pick up the KYB AGX, which is the cheapest adjustable shock that will take an average lowering and higher spring rates.
They will not warranty that though.
Heres the thing for the cost of springs and new shocks you can get a coilover set for the same now adays, which means the shocks are usually valved for the springs and are vehicle specific.

i only plan on lowering not quite 1.5 up front and about an inch in the rear. i just want to give it a little sportier look. it actually doesn't look that bad right now with 17s. i thought it would look more jacked up than it does. but i already bought the coilovers before i got the wheels so i figure i'll put them on. would the kyb agx do much better than stock?

definitely! kyb agx's are good performance shocks. paired with ground controls...you will have a nice setup!

The only problem with the AGXs are that they seem to blow out a little easier if lowered much, and KYB wont warrent it.
