just wondering the best way to launch a auto.
ive heard some people rev the car in neutral and then shove it into drive (doesn't sound good for the trans)
while some hold it back with the brake, on the torque converter.
whats the best way to launch a auto?

i like the rev then slam it into drive method... u get a boost and a nice wheel squeal if u do it right...

doesn't that damage the tranny?

that damages the tranny and the motormounts. that's why 3 of mine are busted. i'd do the brake torque methond but make sure you have a tranny cooler or you might damage the tranny too.

^yep...I nearly fried my old chevy that way
I used the brake method after I learned that the n->d method sucked ass...but that isnt that good either

the brake torque doesnt work if you hold the brake down it will just mess up your brakes i believe you pull up the parking brake and hit the gas but i dont know because i dont "launch" my auto because i know it is not fast

racing with a FAIRLY stock AUTOMATIC HONDA is stupid....
a lot of FASTER domestics are auto... but launching a 16/17 sec automatic civic is COMPLETELY retarded.. as you pointed out.

Anyone that does neutruel drops should be smacked in the head with a rusty nail. If you want a good launch power brake. Hold down the brake as far as it will go. Hit the gas, hovering around 3000 rpm's, and when your ready to go let off the break and floor it. You usually get better times if you manually shift it too. DONT DO NEUTRUEL DROPS!!

i would go with holding the e-brake since it only locks up your back tires and you will get a bit of a burnout, and not waste your brakes as much as you could with holding the brake
