Just received notice that my new computer from Dell was shipped today! Hooray! FYI I ordered a: 3.06Ghz P4, 512 RD Ram, 128 9700 Raedon card, Sound blaster 5.1 card, 120gb (7200rpm)HD, Altec Lansing THX 5.1 Surround sound, 19inch CRT monitor, 16X dvd drive, 4x dvd recorder with CDRW, hmm can't think of anything else...but it should be a nice setup, but give me your opinions.....

Good stuff! You say you want opinions, but you already ordered it... a little late :pfft:

I would have built my own, but I've owned 2 dells and have been happy with both of them.

I have that same video card and sound card and both are pretty nice :)

I would have gotten an LCD monitor instead. Otherwise, looking good.

You can't get a 19 in. LCD with a fast enough rise-fall time for a reasonable price. You need the fast r-f so you don't get ghosting when gaming.

Yeah, the LCD's are a little to expensive and I've heard that they are not the greatest for gaming

i hate lcd's... I've never seen one that I was even mildly impressed with.

I'm not a big gamer so that wasn't something I'm concerned about. Eh, if you've got 10 grand around, you could get a 42 inch plasma screen.

If you're not really into gaming then you aren't really going to use all of the capabilities of that machine, but it doesn't hurt to have the extra HP just in case you need it. Dell is pretty reputable for a pre-fab system. I prefer to build my own, though.
