Workin' at a gun store/shooting range has it's benefits. Such as gettin' firearms at dirt cheap prices.

Winchester Model 1200 Defender 18" barrel 7 shot tube :bandit:

Nope. Just anything movin' that gets within 75 feet or so. Cylinder choke only gets out there so far.

haha I just meant that there wouldn't be much point to shootin slugs out of this little 18" barrel and all. I've got much better things for longer targets. mwahahahahaha

I say bring em on. I wouldn't mind takin' out a few before breakfast.

i traded my last gun for a air compressor...

You should get one of those south african street sweepers... I don't know if that's still the name.. but the ones with the 12 gauge drum.... that'll stop some folks.

You ever lived in Texas? It is needed! Gotta shoot possums, rattlers, gators, outlaw train-robbing types, wetbacks, trespassers and democrats!

hey dave, I was wondering if you could hook me up on a rifle?

I've really considered competitive shooting, and I have the funds available now (finally, after saving)...

I have no idea where to get started though.

:( You're entitled to your opinion. Except I wouldn't say there was something "wrong with texas". ;( But I guess this one was just got for fun. I tried shootin' skeet with it. Didn't do too well. lol But that's alright, I have other shotguns for clay target purposes.

Teriyaki: As far as hookin you up with a rifle. There's really a lot of good deals on the net that you can scoop up. Go to www.gunsamerica.com All you will have to do is find an FFL dealer near you to transfer the rifle to so you can pick it up. Easy as pie.

bro no worries, I was just getting on your case. In canada we aren't big on guns and personaly I dont think people should just have them around the house. I've been to Texas and I found the people there (though a breif stay) very nice and the females are very forwards and dominate, that might explain the guns. HAHA.

And yes becky I knew it was a joke, and there is no point posting somethingjust to delete it later. If you cant leave it up maybe its not worth posting in the first place.

It needs a new barrel and new diamond grips. It was my Grandfather's when he served in WWII and Korea (he later served in Vietnam, for the A.S.A., but this pistol was already retired).

No need to do that. I mean, you prolly won't shoot it and re-barreling and all that takes away from the originality. I'd get the firing pin removed (if you don't know how to do it) and get it framed. Maybe with a pic of him in his uniform if you have or can find one. Stick it on a wall in your house and what not. :)

ah thanks dave, any suggestions on a rifle to get me started? I dont want something so far down there (in the quality band) that I'd have to keep overhauling to get it to competition spec.

You looking for a hunting-type rifle or a competition target rifle?

ohiochica
04-25-2003, 10:22 PM
yeah i knew it wasnt worth posting, but oh well.

competition target shooting = tons of fun! you meet alot of great people and the meets around me are awesome. when i was younger i was competing every weekend and was walking away with so many trophies, best accomplishment was when i was 7 i took the top for my age division, then al teh female age divisions competed and i took home teh top that time too! god were there some pissed of 17 year olds......lol.

as for the target rifles......yeah whats good now? been a longtime since i was into it, and what good meets are out there? i am serously considering getting back into it.

oh and hey i love the pistol! i collect civil war guns and thats awesoem you have your grandfathers! i am so jealous. and no dont get anything doen to it! as a collector it is much better to have it not working than to have it working and have aftermarket stuff on it.

diligent_dave
04-25-2003, 10:34 PM
Hell yeah, I told him to take out the firing pin cuz that's what yer supposed to do when you put a gun on display. :)

As for target rifles. For most competitions around here the majority use Bushmasters, the accurized versions. Still a lot of people shooting modified Remington actions too.

well, I'd want something on the more "competitve" side, .. I dont want a .22 long or some small caliber rifle.. I dont exactly want a .308 either, or something that would rip my arm off... unless the kick isnt that bad.. never shot anything above the pea shooter .22

diligent_dave

Well then you'd prolly want to look into getting an accurized bushmaster or colt .223 Y'know, the AR15 style guns. One with a scope will sep you back somewhere around 1500+ depending on the scope. With that setup you will be shootin' some good groups and the ammo is affordable. Plus, everybody looks cooler shootin' an AR. lol
