When I press the power door lock button it locks the passenger but the driver sounds like it tries to lock but doesn't, like something is in the way. The only way you can lock the car is to hold the inside door handle while locking or using the key to lock it. What's the deal? Anybody else have this problem?

Thanks!

Yeah, that's 'normal.' It's one of those @!%# idiot-proof schemes that engineers come up with. Honda does this so you cannot accidently lock yourself out of your car, i.e. it makes you go to a lot of trouble to lock your keys inside.

My car has an alarm. For $50 my dealer installed a module that locks the doors when I push the alarm button. It's the BEST 50 bones I ever spent.

If you're doing it manually, you're stuck doing it the hard way...

The '01/'02 CiViCs are even more stupid. They lack a door lock button on the passenger-side. Yes, the driver has to lock and unlock the passenger's door from his side... :pukey

espionage : You should also be able to lock the door by pulling the outside handle.

On your way out of the car, just hold open the door latch as you hit the toggle for the locks. Stupid thing to do, but it'll save you from inserting the key from the outside to lock the door.
