My dad just told me my neighbour has a 1967 Mercury Cougar witha 351 Cleveland (if i remember correctly) in it instead of the original 289. Anyways, he is willing to sell it to me fairly cheap (not sure price yet) as it needs some work on it. Kind of like a fixer upper..anyone have any experienece with this kind of car??

it depends on how much money you are willing to spend and the condition of the car pics would help, but i dont have any experience

With a classic car, the most important thing is the body. If the car is a rust bucket, restoration is costly. I would never buy a rusted car. Even small visible amounts are dangerous. Mechanicals don't really matter, the body does. This is your #1 concern. This is a rare car you're looking at, so parts will be hard to come by, with the exception of the drivetrain............Get some pics of it. Have a good look underneath the car, however, since he says it's a "fixxer upper", it might be a rust bucket. If it is, stay away.

They're hot cars. Once again, like my car as well, it's always cheaper to buy a car that needs no work or restoration and is ready to go like in this ad I found here; doing the work yourself is costly and time consuming. But then again, that's like any other car out there, that is the hobby ;)..................
