Im wanting to get a new graphics card for my PC. I need one thats good for gaming, I also want it to be a 128MB card since I already have a Radeon 64MB DDR ViVo.

I really want a 9700 or 9700 Pro, but I dont want to spend kinda money. So Im thinking of going with a Radeon 9500 Pro. I really dont want to spend any more then $200. Any one have any other suggestions on what other cards to look at?

There are mods to turn a 9500 non pro into a 9700 non pro. Some places are selling them pro-done now too.

ATI will be releasing their new car sometime in the next month probably, so I'm waiting for that to come out. It will probably be expensive, but it might drive the 9700 prices down. At the rate games are gobbling up graphics power, I wouldn't go less than a 9700pro IMHO. I'm mad I skimped and got a Ti4200 when I built my computer.

hmm... why?

They are dominating the graphics market right now, and from the looks of the new NVidia card, they will continue to dominate. Their driver support is turning top notch also, contrary to what it used to be.

Hrmm, interesting about ATI bringing out a new card. I may have to wait to see if the 9700 Pro does drop.

Ive read about the 9500 mod, Im not sure if I would want to do it or not. Guess Ill just hold out for a little while longer and see what happens..

I personally think ATIs are the best out there.. Ive had ATIs in both of my machines and have never had any problems with either. :pfft:

although ATI is dominating the market, their drivers suck ass and their website is a piece of junk. Nvidia is a whole lot eiasier to deal with and have less problems with their drivers. This however is strickly from my poinnt of view, me being a sierra games technician and all.... :)

I'm gonna have to disagree. even though they have gotten a lot beter, the drivers still have some issues when released. Ati takes longer to fix these issues then nvidia does.
