Alright when i get on my computer it might be just me but i like to listen to some music. But recently when i put in a cd it just has that blinking light and the fans keeps getting louder and louder and i end up having to manually shut down my computer cause it will take up all my computer's energy to doing that and i can't bring up anything to stop it. I know its not just with that one cd cause i tried another cd and it did the exact same thing. So try and help me out with whats wrong with my computer. Thanks

The case fans get louder? Or is it the CD spinning? If you're having actual power problems... ie, your power supply can't handle the cd rom drive, time to get a new PSU maybe.
System specs?

Shouldn't matter... it would just slow it down if DMA is off.

it could be the cd spinning but whatever it is it just keeps getting louder and louder until i have to shut down the computer manually. I have a gateway computer i forget the specs of it, ill look it up when i get home again.

Some CD drives are pretty loud... Are you SURE there's a problem? If its just the drive, try another one... they're pretty cheap.

ive had that problem. its hard to explain, but it seems more prone to do that if the cd is scratched or burned. a store bought wont usually do it.
I think its just a hardware bug where the drive doesnt know that it doesnt need to spin up anymore, and it just never turns off. I've been able to use the eject button and the disc was still spinning in the tray.
You can use the emergency eject if you really want to get it out instantly. use a paperclip,
I just ended up getting a new drive, they are dirt cheap, and you can get a dvd rom for what 50 bucks? worth it.
