Well, you'll really need to set up a proxy server. I think JP runs one if you need help

Hey Chris, can you give me a quick explanation of a proxy? I've never used one, but sometimes I wonder if it wouldn't be a bad idea.

the easiest way..

in IE, tools, Internet options, Connections, Lan settings, Proxy server.

now you just need to find a list of available proxies.. try to get on thats closer to where you live.

You can use a software calles Access Diver to do full analysis of the chosen proxy (before you actually start using it).

You can also go ultra hardcore and setup you own proxy, and from that proxy connect to an public proxy.. But thats a lot of trouble for what its worth, unless...

The Proxy's IP.

Unless you are able to hack the Proxy itself, but lets not go there.

Also, you should run adaware on a regular basis.

what webmail are you running? cause if you are using yahoo, hotmail, or any of the other popular ones you are almost gaurenteed to get spam of all shapes and colors. I use lycos mail, and get NO SPAM. its free. its good.

proxy servers are just what everyone explained already, they are just a neutral computer that processes any network requests you send it and goes to get it for you. THe site or whatever you are accessing only sees the proxies ip, and therefore no spam gets to you. The downside is that your access time will be reduced.

There are several proxy lists out there, so youre bound to find at least one good free one. If your low tech, just go to anonymizer.com and use their demo login. There used to be a few other sites, one started with a J, but I havent used those in a while. They are especially useful when attending public school that restricts free speech. (of course they dont restrict anonymizers or google..he he)

There are websites like https://www.triangleboy.com (note: the s means that it's a secured proxy. It's also good for getting around over-active filters (like at school).
You may also want to go into your IE Tools and "up" your security and privacy preferences. This will disallow 3rd party cookies (in other words, a trail of websites visited) and such.
Getting a program that will detect Spyware is also a good thing. I know McAfee has a program, but I am sure that there are free programs out there. This will also cut down on people tracking your internet usage.

But as blind34_1 pointed out, if you're using Yahoo, Hotmail, or AOL, you're going to get spam, regardless of anythign you try.
