Well guys, this upcoming summer will be my HS--->college transition summer, and I'm gonna need a job... my job now is great- flexible hours, 10/hour, desk, office, etc... basically what I do is I work for an investment firm and call up rich people around the area and ask them if I can send them info abt our group, and no Im not selling anything because its free, so dont bug me:pfft:
Basically right now im working 6 or so hours per week after school, but come summer Im not prepared to call people 40+hours per week, so Im looking for something new. I figured coming on here and asking would give me some ideas. I thought abt working a car maintenance place, but I think blind_34 tried that and said it sucked, so nah... I want at least 8/hr and something fun where I can interact with people and be somewhat casual... I am willing to take a pay cut for more fun and enjoyment... I was thinking bartender since I can mix almost any drink (even tho i despise alcohol- broke up my family 12yrs ago)... dunno if I can do that at age 18 tho... so guys, any ideas?

i was going to say construction worker/landscape till i saw you'd take a paycut for fun/enjoyment.
you could try to get a job serving, just check your state laws, i know you gotta be 20 & 1 day in KY to serve alcohol, but depends on the state.
you could get a job at like a quickstop oil change, you are w/ cars and get a little customer interaction.
one of the more fun jobs i had, i dunno if memphis has a big airport though, is working at the airport pushing people in wheelchairs who couldn't get around. the pay wasn't great, but you get decent tips at a busy time like the summer and the people were usually nice and thankful.

Well, you can't bartend until you hit the big 21, so that's out. You can serve though. My parents own a restaurant, and servers make A LOT of money with tips. Not a bad job at all, I'm thinking about doing it this summer.

thats what i did last summer. i made about 20-25 an hour but hours are short... only 4-5 hours. one night i did bring home $250 in tips though.its all about how well you can deal with people. i bartended one night too..not legaly, but i did, i didnt like that as much. get a job with friends. whereever you are you will have fun if you have friends with you. where i worked as a server i knew 7 of the 10 employees before starting to work there(small place) and we always had fun. i had a problem with saving though. i spent all my money and just lived large last summer

You can be a pimp and deal women and make big $$$ wearing pink hats (the disadvantage of the job is you'll have to paint your sc300 pink ;) :D)

Get yourself into a job where it isn't the pay that you value but the learning/experience you get from it. They couldn't pay me enough money for the two jobs i work now, I learn more about business then I do in school and I get paid twice as much as anyone I know my age (but thats another reason all together).
Make sure whatever job you get yourself into there is room too move up.

Yeah Memphis has a really big airport... FedEX home or whatever. Dosent Memphis have a performance dearlership somewhere on Goodman that would be kinda cool and you could buy wheels or whatever at a discount, be a cool summer job and you might get to meet more people with kinda the same interest

dude you could go down to the Tunica Casinos and be a Valet guy, those rich people come in and my g-ma works at one of the shops and she says they tip big, and then the not so rich people might tip because they had good luck.
