Where and how did you guys learn to do this shit?

I guess it all depends on what question your asking, power ratings and other detials alot of us know because we're always reading up on the latest and greatest. Its like knowing everyone in the football legue it doesn't happen over night it takes time and effort to have all those good details in your head.

When you really get into a sport/hobby you'll be amazed at how little things really change. It seems at first everything in changing but over time (maybe a few years) you come to realize that its just the same shit over and over again. Or so at least i've noticed in the bike industry, same product repackage with a new HIGHER price. You will also pick up on lingo that is used in the auto industry that could possibly be causing you some confusion.

what lingo.... Jay dosent know this lingo... and i know a few shortcuts like i/h/e for intake header exhaust...

oh and just go to like wal-mart or something and pick up a sport compact mag. Might not make sense now but eventually it will

Well, im no mechanic, but i have learned alot about what parts are good for your car, and how they work. - read the technical articles in import mags, escpecially Honda Tuning, they have good info.

i've tried the pick up a magazine, or reading all these articles about cars n stuff and it just looked like jibba jabba. now im resorting to just askin' stuff to people who know - which is probably highly annoying. :yes:

just dont ask too much of the same stuff and people shouldent get annoyed with you

Get a helms manual, and just do it. Trial and error. It can be a ***** sometimes, but thats the fastest way to learn. Start small, normal maintenance is always a good way to start. Changing oil, etc. Then move on to more challenging things.

As for common knowlegdge.. Lots and lots of reading and researching. Talk to people that have done it for a while, and dont be afraid to ask questions.:yes:

or you can start big and then mess up the smaller things...:D I have done all the work on my car myself and I still havent changed my own oil...not yet anyways Im doing it the weekend after my spring break
