a kid thought it would be cool to eat a bunch of pills on IRC and have a webcam of him doing it... heres what happened:

Those were the last coherent words Brandon Vedas, 21, typed into the computer in his Phoenix bedroom as he showed off for Internet pals watching on a Web cam by swallowing more and more prescription drugs.


Vedas died online as a crowd of virtual onlookers egged him to "eat more!" A chilling record of the Jan. 12 chat reads like an Internet version of the notorious 1964 Kew Gardens, Queens, stabbing of Kitty Genovese as her neighbors watched from their windows.

In Vedas' case, some did try to help — begging him to stop, to call 911, to get his mother from the next room. After he passed out, some tried frantically to figure out his location while others argued against getting involved.

As terrible as that is, he brought it on himself. So ****ing sad, and for what?! ****ing nothing, im not giving any sympathy towards this situation just anger and frustration. ****ing ridiulous. Just, ahhh. i cant type anymore.

Good lord. I don't know if I have too much sympathy for him. I mean, showing off for real friends is bad enough, but do show off for an online crowd? That's just stupid.

i will never understand what goes through people heads. Did he actually think that he'd survive somthing like that? The kid was obviously an idiot, but he didnt deserve what he got...:no:

The only people that I have sympathy for in that is his family and friends. The other people that were online and tried to help. This may sound mean but what this kid did made him the epitome of just plain stupid. About a month back one of my friends was at my house all drunk. We had just gotten back from the bar. She found a bottle of antidepressants. And downed the whole bottle. Nothing really happened except she got ****ed up. A few weeks later, she did it again. And got really, really sick. I stuck my finger down her throat and made her get sick. When she came to, I gave her an ass kicking that she'll never forget. I was so scared.

Ummm...I just wanna correct one thing. The people in the chat weren't helping at all....they were pushing the guy to take more and more!!!

Yeah but D, there were some that were making suggestions and whatnot about what to do. And then there were some that were all like, "F*ck this, I'm going to sleep". Remember the time that I got that e-mail and I was all scared and freaking out?

When will people learn that being stupid is stupid. What a waste of life, that kid had many more possibilitys ahead of him than to die in front of a PC screen.

The next time i hear someone talk about how F*K'd up they got, ill think twice about what kinda person they are.

Yeah, that's what I'm saying. It's not cool to brag about how wasted you get. I mean, if you're talking about how you went out and had fun and whatnot, that's cool. But I'm not all about people that are doing it just for the sake of impressing others. I wouldn't try to impress someone by telling them that I got all f-ed up.
