When I accelerate it is not fluid but feels like your turning up a dial notch by notch. Rather then going from idle to 5 to 6 k rmps, it will accelerate to 2500 rpm then pause for like .5 seconds then go to 3000 and so on. Once i reach 5000 k plus rmps it stops doing that. If i do a fast start it wont do that. But if i'm around 3 or 4 k rmps and then floor it there will be a delay and then it will catch up and accelerate normaly. Some times my car hicups alittle. Please help

I have a:
97 civic 4d
aem cold air inkate
dc 4-1 headers
Alt and power steering pulles
and free flow cat converter and greddy catback.
I also had to custom legnthen the second o2 sensor and i used proper gauge wiring and solder them togather and used those plastic wire coverings

So it sounds like your basic problem is that the car doesn't pull smoothly through the rev band. I notice similar tendencies in my '01, especially between 2-3k.

I used to think it was a problem but I really think it's just flat spots in my power and torque curve. I'd have to dyno it to really tell, but my guess is that the power and torque curve probably both go down at the points where I notice flat spots, or at least one of them goes down enough. Over 3-3.5k or so then it pulls pretty smooth up to redline.

As for your clogged thing....I dunno what you're talking about really.

actually, seeing how you have 4-1 headers, a low restriction cat, and a cat back system...that could be a main problem....you have extremely little back pressure...this means thats itll take a little time for your car to accelerate up to high rpms, but once you get too higher speeds, youll have higher HP meaning better pick-up....so highway speeding shouldnt be a problem for you, more like just a 1/4 mi start....i suggest SC'ing your car....then thatll put your low restriction exhaust to work..............that might just be your problem (no low end power means no real torque)

i just learned of this idea a few weeks ago, so someone correct me if im STILL just talking out of my ass

but supercharging the thing would still be pretty cool, heh

do u feel the car stumbling or it's just the tach doing that ? cause a bad igniter will cause the same problems.

where is greasemonkey75 at ?

automatic or manual? is your distributor tight on the head?
