View Full Version : Space Shuttle Columbia Missing/Exploded

This is a sad story. This just happened this morning. NASA hasn't said that the shuttle exploded, but has warned people in nearby areas to avoid debris as it could be hazardous. It was supposed to land at 9:16 this morning.

The last one was Challenger in 1986...

I saw something on the news about it but i didnt know what was goin on.... that's not good, not good at all.

Creepy thing is, NASA has only had 2 accidents before this

Challenger, and the fire on Apollo that killed 3 people..

well, both of those anniversaries are within a week of today


also, they have never had an accident on re-entry, its always been on take off..

wierd eh

Yeah its very sad. They said the biggest piece they have found so far is 4'. They didn't say of what.

I remember actually getting to see what the space shuttles were made of. The white & black areas you see on the outside are a very soft foam like material. You can put a dent/cut in it with your fingernail. Its made to withstand temps of ~7000+ degrees.

I was 5 when the Challenger blew up, but I remember the event very well. Sad stuff, my heart goes out the the people who were lost today.

I was watching CNN and CBC whenever I could. Watchin the tapes of the shuttle fall is very scary and heart breaking! :no: :no: :no:

damn that really sucks...I was watching stuff about it on the news...only 16 minutes away from getting here and boom...my heart goes out to the families of those people on the shuttle...
