I got some more fuel injector cleaner today, and noticed that on the bottle it says to use it every time you change your oil. I have been using it like every other tank of gas. Is this bad in any way? I can't imagine that keeping your injectors clean could possibly be a bad thing, but I just want to make sure that the chemicals in the cleaner isn't doing damage somewhere else in the engine since I am using it so often.

I would use it as directed. They probably say that for a reason.;)

It doesnt do any harm, but doesnt do any good either. Putting it in with every other tank is major overkill, almost like changing your oil every 500miles... it won't hurt, but there is just no reason to waste the money...

im guessing that if you need to do it so often something is wrong..id be afraid that the corosives (sp) in the additive would hurt the valves or something...

that stuff brings down your octane level a bit, buts thats all. I don't imagine it hurts anything. I just use that stuff like every three or four tanks. And don't mix it with other chemicals, because every time you add something into your tank, your diluted your gas. (ie use only on full tanks)

I've heard that using that stuff too much isn't too great for your car. It is corosive in some manner to clean your injectors, so don't use it more than recommended. Believe me, if it was safe to use more often, the bottle would say so, because they would make more money.

Well, I wasn't sure if it was okay or not. But I did notice a difference in performance every time I used it. So I guess there is something wrong. Oh well, it is time for a swap anyway. :) Thanks for the help, guys.

It depends on the cleaner and how concentrated it is. Some say to use every other tank of gas (the one I currently have). Big bottle with a little measurer with it.
Some say every oil change. Read the instructions of the one you buy and follow them!
