Well, some of you may know I'm planning to tear apart an aging '96 civic hatchback, and over haul it with a b18c1 (with engine work) + t3/t04-e turbonetics turbo.

I was interested in making a live feed webcam that would be on 24/7, anybody interested in watching?

I'm not sure if I want to go out and buy a webcam if theres no interest.

Basically, it will be mounted in my garage, you'll be able to see snipits of silver and me working on the car :)

Goodie. I'll be taking pics, I'm sure I can get the software to record some highlights I guess..... No idea how to work this software, I've never done anything like this before. I just hope it wont be uber crappy resolution.

No, it'll be uber-ific. I'd watch. What you should do is just use the cam to record what you're doing, then turn that into avi files, pos that on the net somewhere in like 10-30mb files, then we can d/l and watch the highlights. :)

Do you have a video camera you could use instead? You're not going to get great quality with an average webcam. Maybe a vid. cam you could borrow?

Webcams aren't that pricey. Jsut get one with decent resolution. What speed internet connection do you have?

i'd watch at least 5 mins, but if your swap goes anything like how i do swaps, its more about having fun than doing work. (dirt bikes, 4x4's, paintball, just BSing alot)

Right on, good responses.

I could muster up a video camera I guess, but wouldn't live be better? or more interesting for that matter.

I could have the webcam going 24/7, or is there any way to have the camera going 24/7 and feed it into my comp?

I could just use the camera to video tape some parts, and edit out the unnecessary parts.

good to see that theres some interest tho.

I'll think about buying some webcam, any suggestions?

Oh, and i'll be broadcasting using cox highspeed internet (cable)... but then again cox sux sometimes, so it could be down for a couple hours each week, probably not during the daylight hours though.

Just get a decent webcam and it'll have the software to post it on the net. I can't think of any off the top of my head though.

Video camera would be nice. Anyways, I've got some time, I'm going to start the swap summertime, but I'll have pics up of the engine after its gone through resleeving, and replacing of pistons + rods.
