Am I the only one or have you guys noticed. The higher up you get in your classes the more prick-like the prof gets. ie. the 1102 prof is a helluva lot more bitchy than the 1101 prof.

Actually, I have noticed the exact opposite. My intro profs were real asses because they all hate underclassmen. As you progress in college, they are teaching classes they care about to people serious about taking them, so they are a lot nicer about it. That is my experience so far, anyway.

i think it really depends on the person/teacher. i had a teacher flunk me because i proved him wrong in the first programming class

I haven't noticed that at all. Most of them are getting better now that I'll be entering upper 400 level classes. They seem to care about what they are teaching. Then there are the ones that are just asses and there's nothing you can do about it.

yep I have had the same experience. My higher level profs are awesome. They want to be teaching those classes because of the fact that the 15-20 students sitting in front of them want to be there cuz that's they're major and they know they're interested in the material.

Building on what he said, remember most 1000-2000 level intro classes are weed-out courses when they are taught to a larger audience and there is little interpersonal interaction with the prof. That's why he probably comes off as a prick.

When you get into the upper 3000s, 4000s they profs are more communicative and interested in seeing students succeed.

Take your lumps like we all did.

It definitely does depend on the prof, but I've also had the opposite experience.

A lot of lower level profs are forced into teaching the classes due to lack of seniority and other reasons. Intro courses, to a PhD, are the worst things to teach.

Junior/Senior level courses, on the other hand, are slightly more in-line with the prof's knowledge and skills and also are taken by people who will probably graduate in a similar subject.

That said, undergrad courses are still menial labor to profs. Many profs are really there to reasearch and don't want to teach but are forced to....they tend to be asses. Many enjoy teaching, they are cool.....

ECO2023(letrue) - non interactive, but not bad. very reasonable
MAC1105(lecture) - she's a ***** 1/2 the time, the TA is a little prick all the time
SPC1600(small class) - waaay over animated.
